Well, I've got mine.  The invite email arrived this morning and I dutifully signed up to check it out.  Unfortunately, it thinks I'm my wife (even though I've got a separately paid for email account).  I guess I've got some helpdesk time coming up before I can explore the goodies.

I got the "invitation" and I am doing the registration to test it (yes I do have Xtra e-mail addresses, one is ten years old!)...

What's the "software" download about? I don't want to download things I don't want to use later...

I see... and will pass:

Check your computer and update Yahoo!Xtra Bubble software if necessary. Includes:
  • Messenger
  • Parental Controls

Interesting... I got offered Messenger and Toolbar, nothing about parental controls.  Some other points:
 - My briefcase appears to have a 30MB limit - where's the other 994MB?
 - It may just be coincidence, but my non-Xtra POP account appears to be having trouble connecting.
 - This is a small one but, if I don't want to have a Yahoo! cartoon face avatar, I'd like to be able to upload my own.

It seems you can no longer have e-mail delivered to your Xtra mailbox and a copied to another mailbox.  I always used to have my Xtra e-mail copied to my Gmail box and down load from Xtra.  Now I can only have mail redirected to Gmail.  Bummer.

And it said my browser is not officially supported.  Firefox on Linux.  Seems to work though.

Well, it might look "very attractive indeed", but my experience so far is that it has totally screwed up my Secure Remote Email access, aliases under my logon account no longer appear to be working (not transferred??) and attempts to get further information have so far come to naught. Currently on my second attempt to get some phone advice, sitting on the phone for 40 minutes .... For me, transfer to the new system sucks. I wish I hadn't done it, but would have had to eventually as the old xtramail.xtra.co.nz address now gets redirected.Yell

Interesting. My Secure remote email appears to be working (for POP access anyway) and my aliases are intact.

Have you logged it with Xtra?

I was unable to connect to Pop3 all day yesterday.  Then I realised it was no longer accepting the "01" on the end of my username.  I have an old "xtr" username - the ones that the first few tens of thousands of customers got in 1996 when Xtra started before you could choose your own username.  When connecting you use xtr123456, but in mail you have to use xtr12345601 otherwise it won't work.  So troubleshooting I dropped the 01 and it works.  Bet there are still a few thousand "original" customers out there, but they are probably technical enough like me to try the same.

Now the only issue is I'm getting 20 times the spam I was getting before!!!  Anyone else having this???

My wife has lost access to her email account with Outlook via my Ihug connection.

The logon name/pwd for smtp now is not accepted, yet it was working fine on Friday. Any suggestions / anyone else with a similar problem ?

While it's not technically my fault, as a male I have to assume responsibility to what Telecom have done. . . . sigh. . .

I haven't received any email for the last couple of days now on my Xtra account.

I tried registering for Yahoo!Xtra Bubble just now, and the pages send back SOAP errors. One email came through that was sent at 9:30pm last night. 17mins on hold and counting...

The Telecom site lists nothing wrong with their services. That new Geekzone email offer is looking very attractive isn't it?!?

GAH - and the webmail login page keeps resizing my window - STOP IT!!

Just got off the phone with the Philippines branch of Telecom.  They say the problem is because a lot of people are using the internet at the moment and to wait 3-5 hours Laughing

Reading between the lines I'd just say that the upgrade is taking longer than they thought, and that the backlog of email is getting bigger every minute they delay.  I'm not expecting my emails until sometime tomorrow.

Well, now we've had the message from Telecom to change the smtp server settings to send.xtra.co.nz

Weird, and it wasn't successful.

Perhaps the project team on this one won't be putting this upgrade in their CV Wink

Well - the registration process finally worked.  None of my missing mail is sitting in my mailbox though.  I tried the send.xtra.co.nz setting as well with no luck.  smtp.xtra.co.nz doesn't get any mail, but it doesn't fail either.

Very confusing process, and no information from Xtra to speak of.

definitely not the best webmail system I have ever seen and it makes you appreciate how good the old xtramail was. When I checked my mobile mail on my 027 mobile it looks like you now pay to see what mail you have on line without reading it. Can anybody confirm this? I used to regularly check my email when away from home for free and only open and pay when necessary cheers George
