If he is only pulling 2.5GB, it may be worth while considering the 'Go' plan which has 3GB of allowance.

He has switched to Go. He's not a big user and I think the Go Large was sold to him rather than a conscious decision

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

go large suits me perfectly and i get about a 256k connection which surmounts to a 40kbs download on a good day!! that being said i download 80gb a month on that plan all for $49 a month, id rather have unlimited data than a super quick connection. by the way the modem synchs at 700k, although we are at most 2km from the exchange, something definetly wrong with the line, meh..

The Go Large plan is screwed... get off it lol. I stayed on it thinking that unlimited was great.. When downloading via torrents and of IRC my downloads would max at about 15 kb with torrent and with IRC about 20 kb max. Both of these download methods used to be great before i changed from the 10gb plan to Go Large. On IRC i could get upwards to 600kb and on torrents around 200-300 kb if the seeds were good. So yea i changed plan back to the 10gb and now i get the original speeds. Xtra completly screwed the Go Large plan. I would definitly change if you want to resolve slowness issues.

Cheers

Hence why they offered up to 3 months credit and also offered to waive contract disconnection fees during that period.

Yeah torrents are slow during the day (256Kbps). Http is fine, I pretty much always get 2Mbps using a download manager from international sites. (I sync at 2.3Mbps) I was watching my torrents on Friday night (going about 32Kbytes/sec) then bang! as soon as the clock struck midnight it jumped to 80-100KBytes/Sec. Go figure.
