deadlyllama: Are they finally doing voice over VoIP instead of requiring you to keep your copper too?

That is correct. Fibre VoIP services are now available in UFB areas where no copper has been laid (eg new subdivisions, apartment buildings etc).

Existing Spark Ultra Fibre customers can also migrate their voice service from copper to fibre.

There is also no pre-requisite to get broadband - Spark will now offer voice only services over fibre where copper voice is not available, subject to UFB availability of course.

I only placed my order like a week ago on UFB 100/50 and the tech is going on site today for site inspection.
I really want to go on these new plans which gives me Gigabit router and fast speed, but I think I will wait for my connection to be up and running first and then change it to these plans.

If I ask for a change of plans, they might push my install dates further now .. and delay everything ..

surfisup1000: Uhh, the telecom website for checking the new UFB prices is poorly designed if you want IP phone too.

Can't figure out how much it costs for 200/20 UFB, with landline, and national calling.   I clicked learn more on the phone options and it tells me there are a variety of options yet does not list the options with prices.

SO, i give up, sorry telecom.

200/20 Speed, on 80GB plan, with fibre landline is $119/month.

Add free weekend national calling for $4/month or free anytime national calling for $14/month

The landline comes with the following services at no cost:
Automatic Call Back
Caller Display
Divert my number if unreachable (free to any Spark Landline or Mobile)
Hide My Number
Last Number Redial

Inphinity: Hmm.. on 100/50 atm also, quite keen to keep the upstream. Will wait and see if 200/50 or better comes soon...

The product range is limited by chorus/UFF etc.

Yeah, I realise that, but I'm pretty sure when Chorus announced they were going to do 100/20 last year, they also said they would have 100/100 and either 200/100 or 200/200 (I forget) - perhaps it never eventuated. I simply don't want *less* upstream than my current plan, because backups can always be faster but slower would suck ;)

Yep, Chorus offers 100/100, 200/100 and 200/200 but it's up to the ISP to choose whether to offer those services.

Yes, please wait until your current order is complete and installed, then contact Spark to change the speed if that is your wish.

Chorus cannot change the speed of an order under action - they would have to cancel and issue a new request, which would result in delays.

Thanks.

Just do be aware that to get your copper line + Fibre BB converted to fibre landline + fibre BB this is not just a quick software change - it may involve getting the installer out again.   When this occurs, we are constrained by the LFC technician availability, so there is every possibility of delays on getting you moved to the latest plan.  Don't forget, there will also be a lot of others wanting to take up the same deal.  Get in quick! :)

I got connected with Fibre30 a couple of weeks ago, and have just tried to switch to Fibre100, but Spark's systems are still showing me as having VDSL.  Live chat is offline, so I can't ask them if it'll affect the work required (ie will they think they need to roll an installer etc).

I have Spark Fibre already (Chorus).  I plan to connect a single cordless phone directly to the ONT, with no involvement of my existing copper wiring.  Will this require an installer?

That particular option would not require an installer as I understand it, but most customers will want to be able to use their existing phone jacks for voice.

Cheers for that.  I'm happy just using a cordless phone with multiple handsets to cover the house.  No reliance on copper outlets gave me much more flexibility in where the ONT was placed.

Anyone know if you still have to pay extra on the fiber landline for the likes of CLID, Call Waiting and Voicemail??

Dammit!

Just moved house to an area that isn't getting UFB. The house we have moved out of (which we still own) gets it this month apparently.

Not much choice unfortunately (doing it for work). At least the DSL isn't abysmal (10mbps). Would have got the unlimited 100mbps plan.
