Good News / Bad News -

Yes it is JFB

The Area they are doing now is in what is called JFK03 and extends down Geraldine Crescent to 17 on one side & 16 on the other - If your address is lower than these then you are in the next area along which is actualy CVE03 (note next exchange area) and is designed but not being built right now

Similar thing with my UFB - it goes 100m up the street further past my place then stops at some random house. Yet on the other side of the road I'm on? Nothing.

Thanks for all the information people. So it doesn't sound like I'll be getting it any time soon. InstallerUFB, just out of curiosity, do you know where the exchange for CVE03 is located and if there is any timetable for the work to be completed?

CVE - is Cloverlea Exchange which is the 2nd little service building in Henley Crt (off Tremaine - opersite Highbury) - its where your xDSL would be connected for your location, via the green crossconnect cabinet (CVE/D) in Gillespies line.

The Exchange Boundary for Copper is differnt than the Exchange Boundary for UFB, in this case. Because each of the designated areas are designed arround approx 270 connections they dont stop at the boundary but cross over into anothers exchange area to fill up the count.

CVE would actualy be closer to you than the JFK one but in terms of UFB fibre loss vs distance it would make hardly any difference at such relatively short distances

Yeah so I'm halfway down Geraldine and my current ADSL comes from the CVE exchange building.

My nice new shiny fibre must be coming from JFK then.

I'll be first in line when it's available to order!

not quite - the feeder fibre/s will come from JFK to intermediate distribution points ( in Geraldine there will be one @ abt 75 and one @ abt 30) - your fibre connection wiull come from one of these. The current ratio on the new build outs is 1:16 - ie 1 Feeder fibre feeds 16 Distribution fibres

Ok, are they the pits they are putting in with the concrete lids and the funky looking things in them that lift up?

Do the optical splitters live in these pits?

When I was speaking to the installer today, he mentioned the local council was pushing for chorus to speed up the rate of installations. I wonder if that is the case or not?

Yep those are them - someone discribed them as a big black upside down rubbish bin bucket with a whole lot of plastic tubes comeing out the bottom - the spliteres are housed in them with the the fibres and splitter legs routed around inside and managed on trays stacked up inside. - putting them below ground keeps them generaly out of harms way

Not realy - I know the council requested a push on the schedule for the area around Botanical/Tremaine due to the redevelopement of the roundabout

Great news, and an update on the UFB. I have received the 2nd letter advising of the start date for UFB install. It's on the 11th of January.... Yay! So how long could I expect it to take from then? I'm guessing a few months?

how long is a piece of string? from other threads anywhere from a month to 6+ to be able to order then 3weeks to 8+ months to install.

Bump. Sorry to have to post this, but UFB in this area has been delayed from June to July 2016, according to the map.
