Nope, not accountable to customers for this.

Lias: I'm sorry but until he's accountable to the Press Council, he's not media. If he want's to be media, he has to have accountability and he'll never agree to being held to account for the tripe he posts.

That is your opinion but I respectfully disagree.

Agree with this. Certainly Spark are free to sponsor whomever they please and I don't think this should change.  Having said that I think Cameron Slater really is the lowest of the low and I doubt I would want to be a customer of a company who chooses to affiliate themselves with such an individual. Luckily I'm free to choose my ISP, just as others are free to dislike or defend Slater as they so choose.

Reality is that any number of people like this guy.  He's clearly affiliated with the National party, the party with is currently in power because the majority of folk voted for them.

I don't really think 10 mobile phones is going to impact Spark at all.

It depends what you mean by that. Customers can choose to take their business elsewhere... that in some sense means Spark are accountable to their customers given that they likely want to keep them...

Most customers will never know and those who do are not likely to care enough to vote.

That is different, don't like change provider, but companies do not need to consult etc with customers over these decisions.

Good on Spark, good on Whaleoil, there will be a few happy people ending the day with more than they started the day off with #winning

It's ridiculous the way bomber makes these pathetic crusades, any political opinion is acceptable as long as it is in line with him

I thought they still didn't have any power over blog style publishing anyway?

The press council allowed blogs to join last year, but none of them will because they know they wouldn't be able to say half the tripe they say if they had any accountability :-)

Cameron slater is just the opposite end of the opinionated political blogger spectrum from bomber. Both extreme unlikable for many. For one to be hating on the other for successfully getting some misguided sponsored prizes is to be expected. Blog views and impressions and self congratulation etc.

Many of those customers would be on contract and unable to change provider. It's not as bad as sponsoring ISIS I guess, but I'm glad I did sign up with Spark when they offered me a deal for Broadband not so long ago.

I actually agree, I think they are both complete twats, and politically I'm closer to Slater than Bomber. That said I haven't seen the same level of just outright nasty vindictiveness from Bomber, and I really just think Slater is a sorry excuse for a human being vs Bomber being merely an opinionated communist blowhard.

The most ironic thing today was seeing a few high profile left leaning people up in arms about the incident. Their views simply reeked of jealousy rather than engaging in debate over whether it was right or wrong.
