Given the issues people are reporting here, it is perfectly conceivable that while we cannot see an issue on the Spark network, there may be an issue with Chorus.
Can anyone here who is in Christchurch with slower peak time speeds on ADSL or VDSL advise when the issue started for them?

I have only really noticed it in the last couple of weeks.

This is a test I just done now (6am) , you can see a massive difference from the test I posted during peak time last night.

I have heard this morning that Chorus have completed some remedial work in Christchurch this morning.
For those you having issues in the evenings, can you please try again tonight and advise if there is any improvement?

Hey LittleDude I'm in Chch as well.
Just did a spark speed test and it's seems pretty good at the moment.

6:50 Dload - 26.6
       Uload - 9.7

Way better than yesterday at about the same time. Hmmm if Chorus was doing "remedial work, would spark not be informed so the relevant info could be sent to all those customers affected?
Will do a test later again. Once again a bit of communication would have saved a lot of uncertainty and frustration for many of us.

Speeds are looking good for me too. This time of night over the last couple of days my speed had halved...still full speed at the moment.
Fingers crossed they're fixed it :)

According to TrueNet, peak is 8pm to 10pm - typically bottoms out at 9pm.
