I have moved our B315s wireless broadband modem to a RBI setup at another location outside of Auckland and it worked just fine. They are not locked to a tower. It's the SIM is locked to the B315s so you can't take the SIM and plug it into another device. I am pretty sure you could move the modem around and it would just connect to your providers cell towers, at this stage anyway.

We are within 1.5Km of the nearest cabinet and were getting sub 10Mbps DSL. Internal home wiring checked out by multiple technicians. Street to house to be a different story. No point in people going out and spending $300-$400 bucks on the latest DSL router that will fix your DSL woes.

I do suspect there must be some form of 'control' on the download speeds you get from towers. If not initially on residential wireless broadband then definitely now.

There has been mitigation put in place a few weeks ago that if you take it outside the designated area you'll receive a text to a nominated address saying that you took it outside the area. And if you leave it outside the area for any long then it get shutdown.

I got this setup for my folks in matamata and they are very pleased with it. Best they could get was ADSL2+ (10/1 is all they were getting, new house wiring).

Speed wise I had a speedtest up to 45mb down but it seems to average around 15mb, I can get 30mb up pretty easy.

Big thing they have noticed is the sound qual on phone calls is big time better.

The unit indicates full coverage (3 bars) but if you try loading the unit's webpage it indicates 4/5 coverage.

Hi, do you have spark's phoneline using the phone jack on the B315, or an IP phone plugged into the Ethernet ports?
