I tried telneting into the router, but it won't take the web UI's password. Any ideas on what it might be?

there is a way to 'hack' it to work.
I personally do not have one on hand to pull out and show examples however.

That all uses telnet/SSH.
If you can make that work, 100% you can use a CLI to do the same.
