BarTender: And your outdoor antenna was correctly aligned with the right polarisation pointing in the right direction? Or was it an omnidirectional antenna?

Outdoor antenna was aligned vertical and pointed to where I could see the cell site 3 years ago.

If the antenna is over 3 years old are you sure it's working on the right frequency?

The antenna was purchase about 4 weeks ago and is

"SKU: ANT-205

GSM/CDMA/PCS/3G/WLAN/LTE Broadband Directional Antenna 698-960/1710-2500/2500-2700MHz

Bands

2.4GHz , 800/900MHz , 1700/2100MHz

Connectors

N-Type"

I assume this is the correct antenna.? for 4g broadband

Yes, it's what a lot use for 4G LTE AFAIK.

I think it maybe time to call your local antenna guy so he can precisely position it (along with a second antenna if you want the best experience). I find that just moving my router a degree or two can give me another 20Mbps down sometimes a small position difference can yield a lot.

As someone said, it maybe that the tower is at or close to capacity.

Maybe this is too obvious to be true but looking at your posts you are trying to use a antenna for bands 800/900mhz to pick up a 700mhz signal?

Also have you been into the software to tell it to use external antenna. I understand it needs to be manually switched on.
