Yeah, I'd give up a little downstream speed for upstream. If it doesn't improve things then it'll be back to ADSL2. At least on ADSL2 I should get 1Mbps upstream.
Can't wait until fibre is here.....bring on June 2018......that just feels like a long time away....
the use of the 998 band with US0 enabled was intended to bridge this gap slightly.
Power levels are different however to what you see on ADSL2+, so the net speed from US0 is a tad lower.
In most situations US1 is where you get all the speedboost from VDSL, which is after the first Downstream band. Obviously being higher up there, distance affects it more.
As others have pointed out, if you have a ADSL rated filter it typically causes bad cutoff points in the specturm past ADSL ranges.
