Is there a difference between 4.5G and 4G+?

Because I've been seeing the 4G+ icon on my phone (Galaxy Note4) since early this year.

The last time I did a speedtest was a week ago and I got 190Mbps too.

So going by the RSM site, it looks like these speeds would have been achieved by aggregating (potentially) 135 MHz of bandwidth:

20 MHz in Band 28 (758-778 MHz)

25 MHz in Band 3 (1830-1855 MHz)

20 MHz in Band 7 (or maybe Band 38 if TDD?) (2640-2660 MHz)

2 x 35 MHz in Band 40 (2300-2335 MHz and 2335-2370)

I'm only guessing the 65 MHz across Bands 3/7/28 is FDD and the 70MHz in Band 40 is TDD

No handsets capable of all this yet but some out there will be able to combine 2 or 3 of these to get several hundred Mbps.... quite what you'd use that for in a mobile device is another question entirely!

As an aside, (while looking at the RSM site), I'm impressed Spark has deployed 2300 MHz to around 50 sites already! (Although I guess they had to before the end of the year!)

I would think that existing 4G would provide more than adequate performance for most applications, but the increased capacity is very interesting as it will help to speed along the divorce proceedings between Spark and Chorus.

Live in the area, if only I was on Spark... Oh well, normal 4G will have to do, still faster than ADSL.

I live in Silverdale (Millwater), Spark UFB & mobile customer.

This is the signal strength I get at home (iPhone 7 Plus) :(

Been living here two years, never seen a whiff of 4G, never mind 4.5G, always 3G, one or two bars.

Can't complain about the UFB speeds though! Gigabit is available, but I need to upgrade my router & WiFi APs to benefit :)
