If however it is DSL sync dropping then refer to Bartenders suggestion that the line may be mis-provisioned. If the PPPoE is dropping regularly but the sync is up, then the ISP may need to sort it out.

 

 

 

 

Bartenders point would cause the situation of PPP session dropping every 4 hours, not DSL. DSL will stay solid through that period.

I switched to the Google DNS for a few days, then back to the normal ones and everything seems to have righted itself now.  As to why, no idea.
