I'd put in another suggestion here based off the speeds your getting via Ethernet..
Those speeds look inline with a USB2.0 Gbit Ethernet adapter, in some cheaper laptops these are used quite often sadly..

I am on fibre, and I gave my speeds in the previous page. It could well be your laptop.

jman009: what you're getting on average wirelessly
The HG659b has 802.11ac wireless, and the speeds you're getting over wifi is about right.
If you want gigabit speeds over wifi, you'll need to get something with 802.11ad.
It'll cost you though, here's an example router. You'll need compatible devices as well.
jman009: What speed do you you get on mobile ?
iPhone 6S maxes out at 210 Mbps symmetrical. All you've discovered is normal behaviour.
Note: A 5 GHz 40 MHz wide channel will only give max throughput of 300 Mbps or so.
Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.
You need to test with a modern computer that can do 1Gbps via cable ethernet to the modem. Your modem and your device neither of them support 1Gbps via wifi.
jman009: Damn
So if I want full speed I have to get a descent pc and a descent router 🙈
Yeah.
It's pretty amazing how far our internet has come. $140/month will get you internet that's faster than what most people's computers can handle.

Have had gigabit here for a number of months, could count the times I was actively using more than 200mbit on my hand. That being said downloading BF1(43GB) in something like 8 minutes was nice the single time I did that.

why do you want full 1Gbps speed?
i only recommend a better router only if you have many people wanting to use it at 1/3rd speed yes :)
depending on your budget the only 2 routers worth getting:
asus rt-ac68u
asus rt-ac3200 (you get an extra antenna - which i use for my own private express lane to the router lol)
don't get anything else

nothing wrong with your router :)
you will likely never get line speed via wifi as
1. you need a super expensive router as mentioned before, and then devices that support it (next to none available at the moment)
2. there is next to no need to get full line speed over wifi. if you have a device that needs full line speed then connect a cable to it an use that.
wifi is a convenience thing nothing more. if you want speed use a cable.
