I think xpd's comment re "the domain" refers to someone sorting their own domain rather than buying the old ihug one, that would be odd

No, I did mean ihug.co.nz but in jest ;)

But buying their own is a great idea as well :)

FineWine:

Just spoke to the business owner this morning and he said: "its weird as he just received this morning emails addressed to his ihug.co.nz address" but "he will be changing his advertised email address as he does not know how many other emails have bounced, therefore how much business he may have lost"

It sounds like Vodafone have dropped the ball on this one and MAY not have communicated succinctly and often enough with their clients.

Granted the communication could/should have been better, but I would personally treat anything like an ihug email address as abandonware... sure it might work most of the time, but I would not run a business on it....

and to be fair they did say this when they were closing things down in '17

"What happens if I’ve set up Auto forwarding?

If you’ve set up auto-forwarding, emails sent to your old Vodafone address will be automatically forwarded to your new email address. Auto forwarding can’t be guaranteed so we do strongly recommend you give your new email address to friends and family, as well as any other services or websites where you used your old Vodafone address as a log-in.
