Linux: I wish people would stop comparing buying a local SIM to roaming costs!

Roaming is a value added service so you can use your home number while abroad or private APN

I depends how long you are away for. I'm in Ozz at present for two weeks but it's cheaper for me to pay $40 for two weeks roaming rather than buying a local SIM. If I was here longer I would most likely have bought a local SIM.

I agree  - I've always bought local SIMS and will continue to do so for longer trips- but roaming is really handy if you are a way for a short period- passing through a   country for a few days on a stop over. Or in my case, going to China and wanting an alternative to the hassles of a VPN and a local SIM .
