Not sure this is a great sign-up offer regardless. I suppose it adds to the bundle - but for example I re-signed upto 2 degrees for a year and this month got a $200 credit. I could put $70 of that to SS RWC if I was so inclined.

Correct I just joined 2degrees and got a $200 + GST credit which is far better value

putting aside Telecom bashing - I'm with Spark and out of contract and wondering how much this is worth - do we know if the World Cup pass will be in 4K or at least 1080p?

It's worth $79.95 if you get it before the World Cup.

1080, no 4K

I didn't see in the release whether or not it applies to Unplan (it did say unlimited broadband plans).

Despite Spark's advertorial for streaming the RWC in Fridays NZ Herald, I dont see any article in the print edition about the new offer - nor the telco backlash to the wholesaling debacle.

No news is good news, right?  Perhaps its technology reporter doesnt want a CEO twitter bashing.

My spark, there will be a banner up the top and a button bottom right.
Any issues let me know.

Before anyone asks I won't be speaking to anything wholesale related.

This came along at a great time. I'm just getting sick of being with MR and was wondering where I should switch to. For anyone with Spark, a couple of questions:

- Should the speeds to international services 'in-general' be better than MR during peak times? I assume Spark spend more on international bandwidth so wouldn't have the same limits that MR does.

- Sounds like a static ip with Spark is going to cost $15pm which seems pretty high? Just got that info from a csr on their website chat.

That pricing is correct for consumer fibre.

While I won't go out and say offically yes 100% speeds will be better, generally you will see far better and more consistant speeds (based on feedback from other past myrp customers)
I have not personally tested it.

Thanks for that. A bit dissapointed about the static ip being a recurring cost as i assumed it was a similar pricing model to bigpipes. Might not go down that route but still seems like a good deal with the extra freebies being offered at the moment. Can i assume I'd at least get a public dynamic ip rather than being behind cg-nat?

Hmmm.

Paid $60 last month for RWC subscription. Got Spark Unplan Fibre installed today (6 days earlier than planned and on 12 month contract). Will have to see if an RWC subscription is included now that it has gone live. If it is will be asking for my 60 bucks back.

Sparksports have stated they will happily refund.

Great. Will just need to make sure it is included with our new contract.

Yeah your covered. Your contract will have started today.

You won't have had emails as your order wouldn't have included it. But per contract date your elegible so it should be in your myspark and an email sent out at some stage.

So long as you're NOT on Wireless Broadband (which does indeed use CGNAT) then you'll get a standard dynamic IP address.  I.e. if you're on ADSL, VDSL or Fibre, you will get a dynamic IP.

In regards to International connectivity Spark does have great connectivity.  However this is heavily impacted by the path your traffic will take to get to its destination - which will vary by ISP.  I'm aware that sounds suitably vague, but it needs to be.  If one ISP has great interconnection (and this is generally via third or fourth etc parties) to every site except the one that you personally need to get to, then that ISP may be a poor choice for you (but great for a whole heap of other customers).  And to make it even more difficult, that interconnection may change during the life of your service with an ISP.  These statements really do refer to more edge cases than the vast vast majority of sites.  So at the end of the day we're pretty proud of our connectivity and speeds, but your mileage may vary :)

Edit: added comments in regards international connectivity.
