old3eyes: Disagree and there's a few others do here as well especially if you're on a salary when you get paid on say the 15th of the month. 28 days makes no sense. If I got paid every 28 days then I would get 13 pay days a month rather than 12.

@old3eyes agree the 28 day plans are a rip and only designed so customers have to buy 13 packs per year instead of 12

2degrees is the only carrier that does calendar month across it's postpaid and Prepaid plans (I think)

Kogan mobile does full month plus warehouse mobile on prepay.

old3eyes: Wish they would drop the 28 day plans and go back to 30 day or calendar months like parent company.

Not sure what you mean by "like parent company" - Spark's current prepaid plans still renew every 28 days.

They used to be monthly last time I had a Spark prepay account. . Their post paid sure are.

That is one of their biggest selling points for most people, meaning that it always ties in with pay week/fortnight payday once started. Otherwise might have no money for the topup and it doesnt go thru.

My power bill, Telco bill, insurance, credit card etc payments are the same day every month. I don't see why prepay can't be. I'm sure if power etc suddenly went to 28 days you would see consumer outrage.

You would also see consumers who like it too.

People who budget their utility bills likely prefer a billing period that matches their income period.

I used to be paid on the 15th of the month and my wife is paid  on the 23rd  of a month so calendar date monthly billing suits us.

Will be interesting to see what Skinny comes up with tomorrow.

The plan already includes unlimited calls/texts to NZ/Aus, so unless they're going to expand the list of free calling destinations, the change will be in the way data is provisioned.

I predict a reduction in base data, with 'unlimited' data at a reduced speed.

I am with Skinny Direct which is great but they are not allowing new people in. I get 4Gb a month and free calls and texts all for $30

Only downside is that I cannot send MMS and or text people like RNZ who always send a stupid auto reply and want to charge me.

Not sure if there are any better deals now days that what I have but when I signed up it was the best I could find.

100% Vodafone and Spark Pay Monthly are in this space already. Skinny would be first in prepay though.

Very different. Power is charged based on usage and is variable, phone plans (for most people barring PAYG) are set amount per period with usage inclusions. Moving to a 28 day billing cycle wouldn’t really impact power IMO.

Although I’d mention again that there are utilities companies eg Contact adopting weekly and fortnightly billing cycle options - so not too far off.
