Spent a couple of nights in a hotel in central Christchurch this week.  The hotel wifi was s**t so tethered my S21+ to my Surface Pro 6 then connected to the TV via HDMI.  Purchased 4 hours of 5G 'data binge' for $2 on my Skinny plan and I was in heaven.  Surfed phone while watching streaming and wife surfing on her iPad mini.  Quite a contrast to my home VDSL at <20 Mbs down and 0.08 Mbs up.

Nate001:

What do you plan on doing with all this speed?

Well... it's not about what I plan on doing... in fact, that's none of your concern.

I pay for a service and I expect to receive it. The 5G network sell point is speed and stability. I may be depending on this service to work or study, for example. The fact that the speed is that low with not many people yet on 5G is actually concerning.

The speed that I get while on 5G with Spark is the same speed that I get on 4G with Spark. So to me, the "5G" logo on top of my phone is just a logo.

They're not charging extra for 5G so I'd take it as a bonus. Speed tests are not an indication of reliability and stability.

Anyway...
