@Talkiet - Thanks for providing this communication. It's a relief to hear. My contract will be ending within the next month and my decision to remain with Spark was entirely contingent on this issue being addressed and fixed, as we are otherwise very happy with our package and this particular modem. :) Will be watching this thread for more news.

Updated firmware that patches the vulnerabilities has been rolled out to Spark connected devices.  Firmware version is v6.00.18 build02.

I believe work is underway to make the firmware available for download for users of the Spark Smart modem that are not connected to the Spark network.

All done here. 👍

You just gotta love these new Smart modem's that do it all in the background, silently and efficiently. Gone are the days of: hunting around - finding - downloading - installing - rebooting

😀

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Thanks so much @cbrpilot

I just logged into my modem and can see I am on the latest firmware. My up time is 2 days + 15 hrs + 23 mins, so I guess that's when it was pushed out!

You're very welcome catspyjamas.  The update was rolled out over the weekend, so your uptime sounds about right.

Looking forward to the download update option.

Hi, I have a Spark Smart modem on Spark unplan fibre. The firmware is still on v6.00.17 build06. Tried rebooting, but still no update. Only got this modem recently so not really familiar with it. Is there anything I can do to update it, or will it eventually update on its own?

Hi WanderingGuy, it should just update on its own.  Was it plugged in over the weekend?

If you PM me your details I can get someone to take a look at why it has not updated for you.

I think it was briefly off for about half an hour towards the end of last week. Looking through the settings, I notice that it says “DSL Link Status: Link down” and DSL Uptime is 0 days 0 hours 0 minutes 0 seconds. When I logged in yesterday it said the same. Does that seem odd? The fibre connection was only installed about 2 months ago, and the modem was set up then.

No that is not odd :)

The Smartmodem can be used for both DSL (ADSL or VDSL) or Fibre connection types.  The tab you're looking at is for ADSL Broadband rather than Fibre.

To be honest I'm not an expert on this device, and the one I have I cannot see where you'd see the device uptime.

What Tab/Menu option is the up time shown for a Fibre connection (as opposed to the DSL up time tab)?

@steve2222

For my Smart Modem up-time I use: WLan, Access Points page.

It doesn't show actual fibre data up time but does give you an indication when the modem/router was rebooted or repowered.
