im very familiar with PDA phones. :-D
easy for me to find a parallel imported one which will be much cheaper than the ones telecom will sell.
so no worries...

i will need to buy a iphone 3g. but will vodafone iphone work on telecom new network?
tytn ii will work. touch pro will.
but i dont think there are many phone that will support 850mhz.
just keep on searching.

Actually WCDMA and HSDPA handsets will work - not all WCDMA handset is HSDPA, but all HSDPA handsets are WCDMA. Yes, the Apple iPhone will work just fine...

Expect data caps and pricing to improve once Telecom w850, Vodafone w900 and NZ Comms what eva launch. These networks are geared more and more for providing whole broadband solutions especially since the investment is whole of network, well in the case of Telecom and Vodafone.

09 will be a landmark year in the industry not just because of the Telco's investment, but because of what some organizations will do with that investment and technology upgrades.

I am actually really excited about things, resession or no resession its going to be a massive year!

Also, as data volumes increase pricing can come down. There are some very expensive components in the core of data networks, that represent a (mostly) one-off cost. The more MB transferred over each network, the less the increamental cost of the big boxes.

Absolutely, its only a matter of time and Telcos will be able to offer caps or pricing that reflects the uptake. this year will possibly be a watershed year in mobile data.
