That look like its not even close to HSPA speeds as network is supposed to be, isnt 14.4mbps down & 5.72mbps constitute an HSPA network?

I wonder if they have disabled the HSPA portion for a bit? Disapointing considering no one is one the network.

If the faster is true then they will need to show that at launch or some egg will be flung!

I would certainly hope the upload speed increases, doesn't the handset you have support HSUPA which I understand to be capable of 2mbps plus speeds?

I hear that 2degrees reckon they will have the same speeds also, HSPA on all sites... interesting.

richms: Why do they still make the sims in the big sim with the small break out part? Seems a waste to me.

IMO the sims are too big and a smaller one is needed since they are virtually the size of a SD card compared to a much smaller micro sd...

They are produced like that becuase when telecom and vodafone fall over becuase of interference with each other, bell south will come back to the rescue with the old GSM phones that take the big sim cards!!!

You need to be aware the the device being used to test these speeds may not themselves be capable of the theoretical maximum download/upload

Certainly wondered if that was the case, still i would have thought the performance would have been better at this stage in the game.

Download speed is shocking. Its speed is nearly on par with my home broadband, at 4.5mps. I'm afraid we will end up paying hundreds of dollar because we will be enjoying using super fast Internet for too long. If telecom doesn't increase data cap, this super fast download speed doesn't make much of a sense anyway. Probably 5 to 10gb a month will he reasonable. But I doubt it..... Because both telecom and Vodafone won't compete on price.... So what will they compete on? Interesting...

I will definitely be watching many streaming movies everyday by using skyfire on xt network. But the speed at 3Mps, it's more than enough to stream some HD quality video. I couldn't stream HD YouTube video over either Evdo or Voda hsdpa at1.2mps, not fast enough. Ihave heard that AT&T imposes some soft cap on data use, at 5GB a month, not unlimited. Is that right? Disappointing.......

Ok thanks, i have just seen your post on your blog stating this so that explains things.

I do wonder why its not a little higher on the uplpad but maybe thats the max for that as well.

Maximum data rates for HSPA will tend to be device constrained.

Don't forget to check your device specs to understand your maximum capability.

So that device must be hsupa category 1, 0.73mbit? Still a bit slow. Att has deployed hsupa for a long time... My iPhone upload is 350kbit. Just tested it now. So it's not bad.

Ok, so the device probably is not capable of much more than 300k upload. Thats still half of the catagory 1 max speed... I know that theoretical means zip in the real world but you would expect better, wouldn't you?

Then again 3.5mbps down & .22mbps up is faster than many FS/128k broadband connections on adsl1!
