Nokia 6120C, wicked phone for the price, activation no problem, loving the quality of voice/video calling. OMG finally 3G data at home, so glad to finally be rid of 1X.

I got the first SIM in Rotorua on Friday put it in my iPhone 3g and could make calls and send texts straight away took until 5:30pm before I could receive texts. Data has been very fast, google maps is snap fast and I havnt dropped below 5 bars of reception (max) since putting the sim in.

Got my cheap Telecom R6 at about 8.00am at dunedin telecom after winning a bluetooth headset and 1 gb microsd and was able to send texts instantly but was told to wait until my TXT 600 was activated to avoid double charging. Txt 600 was activated by about 9.30 and my texts were recieved almost instantly by others but i was not able to recieve txts until 5.30pm also.

Ported both my vodafone phones over due to previous 1 bar reception on SH1 in sanson where i work and rely on my phone for orders.
Waited for 30ish mins in store.. but were kept up to date and informed by lovely staff at the Palmy Telecom store. Warned me could take up to tuesday to get on the network. but was connected by that night on both the new r6 i bought, and my personal iPhone. And to top it off .. got to work this morning, and FULL reception out here in Sanson!

I am very happy with the service and reception!

I did have to call once tho, as they forgot to enable texting my number. but they resolved it very quickly! :)

Extremely happy with my C510 (previously on an Okta Touch).

Logging on to the NET is fast, and synching with Microsoft Exchange is far faster than the Touch ever was.
And the camera is far superior to my current (admittedly extremely cruddy) 2mb Olympus camera.

One gripe - the included headphones are complete rubbish, and SE's insistance on a non-standard jack is annoying.
However, picked up an adaptor from Koolzone in Northlands here in Christchurch for $10 and I can now use my normal 3.5mm jack headphones.

Happy camper.

samsung

Got Samsung C5220 working today and first incoming call I got was unbelievably clear I had to check whether I had my landline phone to my ear. Speedtest results are my first attempt using software provided which was extremely easy to set up.

I got my XT SIM Friday morning at launch, but because of busy day and partying on weekend didn't get it working till now (I gave the Telecom store a wrong account number.)

I'm SUPER IMPRESSED. I can make and recieve calls in my flat in Parnell without call failures, or having to go outside to hear people - with Vodafone I usually get 3 bars, and every 2 - 4 word someone says when calling me. XT was perfect, full coverage.

Also, the 3G test I did on Vodafone before popping in my XT SIM was around 120kbps, the Telecom test was just over 1000kbps.

I notice with using my iPhone maps, the maps seem snappier, and I'm not waiting for the squares to appear when using satellite view.

Even TXT's are faster, that last bit of the sending message where Vodafone usually hangs and sometimes fails wizzes along on XT.

Still paying the same amount of money, but now I can use my phone at home for voice calls, and use it out and about for data without feeling like I'm on dialup.

The changeacross was fairly painless.

I've been having the same very poor service/call quality issues with my iPhone 3G on Vodafone as well... so picked up a pre-paid XT SIM to test on Friday - as per Tony's post, initial impressions were very positive here in Napier. Enough so that I'll be looking to port my main number over this coming week.

So thumbs up on service quality so far.

Good to hear. Just a heads up you can re-use SIM cards on the Telecom network unlike VFNZ. So if you’re prepaid they can just disconnect your prepaid number and port your number across onto that SIM. If you’re post-paid Telecom will give you a free SIM anyway.

really?

I was told the total opposite by the lady in the Telecom store in Palmerston North....

I hope so, as I want to use my prepaid SIM now, disconnect and port my exisiting Vodafone number over....  was told I'd need to buy a new SIM to do this.

Ok, well with me, personally, it was supposed to be done on Friday, and it was Saturday night when it was connected, after this was connected, only texting and calling would work, but that didnt worry me till I wanted to sent a pic.

Sunday early morning, all the problems went away, and I have not ever had a problem since, I love it.  Love the fast sending and recieveing of text's, fast calling, fast video calling, etc.  Its perfect for me.
