I wasnt talking about your last post. Im not confused i was talking about why sometimes people cant access dial up to data on there phones. I wasnt talking about address books at all. You cant use your phone as a modem if your prepaid.

On a recently excited side-note I got my 6255 working via bluetooth on XPSP2 with the
Nokia CDMA 2000 and XP Generic Modem driver

http://nokia-asia.com/nokia/0,,69974,00.html

and now I'm very pleased.

My data, through my nokia 6255, spontaneouslly stopped working about a week ago.
I've come back to this thread, where i got the settings, and set up a new connection inmy TT3, and still can't get any data.

The TT3 dials #777, then the nokia display "sending >>> recieving <<<<"
then the nokia says "Dormant mode", and the palm says "Error: no carrier"

I didn't change anything!! anyone know what's going on? anyone know how to get it working again?

i haven't requested any change - i still had $$ in the prepay when it stopped working, but i did dip to zero briefly.
I might see if *123 can sort it out. I'm half expecting them to not understand what a pda is.

Sorry taniwha - officially data is not offered or supported or available on prepaid.
I doubt anyone at Telecom will lift a finger to make it work for you.

If it works for you, great - if not, no support.

Has it been charging you? At what rate do think it was?

i've been charged casual rate of $8/MB, just like the website says.
and, i bought the phone from a telecom retailer explicitly for data via my pda.
So, there will be harsh words spoken if they pull the "not for prepay" argument.

must wait till tommorrow to call.

That may be the case, but I would challenge you to find any official complete mobile data terms and conditions of use that state you can use data on prepaid.

-Some- dealers will say anything to get a sale (just like SOME sales staff in any industry), but at the end of the day, Telecoms terms and conditions will stand, regardless of what a dealer says.

If you are still unable to get data going, you could disconnect then reconnect your prepaid (at zero cost). This may work if your connection had been flagged as using data and shutdown.

besides - data casual is a terrible rate. any more than about 1.4 MB you are better off on Flexi

Flexi - 2MB = $12 - 5MB = $15
Casual - 2MB = $16, 5MB = $40

i'm on prepay, because i'm just plan scared. One day i'll install a new app on my pda, it'll go bezerk and download hundreds of MBs a day before i noticed at the end of the month.

lol thats great. i just dont think you can expect official support for a service is specifically mentioned as unavailable on the prepaid platform.

BTW - I used to use it all the time on prepaid, becuase I never got bill a single cent for it.

Telecom pays all my data costs now though, on my card, harrier and phone.

I have a Nokia 6385 on tandem as a spare data connection via infrared or cable if my card and harrier bite the dust LOL

god forbid i should be disconnected from the world if at all possible.
