kadillak: I know a lot of farmers etc who are running around with ancient phones (true bricks - the size of my fist!) and wouldn't be too happy/eager to upgrade... Its still working for them.

So people who rely on their phone for emergencies in remote location wouldn't be happy about a smaller handset, with better battery life & clearer calls?

Most farmers will be on corporate / association plans, and will be able to get a new phone for free, so not sure what the issue is.

It's a moot point anyway - upgrade, or have no phone service when it shuts off.

CDMA coverage had definatly deteriorated here in beach haven - my samsung had a dumb feature where it would beep on losing and regaining signal. For ages the mystery beeping that started was... well a mystery.

XT 850 is not all that hot here, and the XT2100 is virtually non existant. VF and 2 degrees are by far the best signal. Shame, since only XT offer a non vodafone but usable data service, and I have a 900/2100 only phone.
