Still - a 1GB card is a huge card to bundle. What other devices can you buy off the shelf under $1k in NZ (or anywhere) with a 1GB card included as standard?
the speculation here is always fun to read (lurk, whatever)... I'd say the best feature of the 5600 is the media player... basically you can use it as an Ipod shuffle replacement (and considering it's a pretty good phone too (7400 users will know what I mean!) for the price it's all up a very good deal!
Having been through many types of personal audio players (walkmans, diskmans, datmans, minidisc, Ipods and generic MP3 players), and comparing to the quality of the sound coming out of the 5600 (lucky me, I get to play with the phones before they hit the street)- I would happily leave my Ipod shuffle at home and just take the phone- the sound is sublime!!!
Felix,
what sort of headset capability does it have?
a specialised jack? or just a standard headphones jack?
secondly how does it handle calls while using the media player/
This phone is being released on Monday 13th. From the official Telecom Communications "The Sanyo 5600 is a clamshell with 260K dual colour displays. Its power-packed features include a built-in digital music player (MP3/AAC), with 1GB miniSD memory card, 1.3-megapixel camera with digital zoom, flash and Macro close-up function, plus video recorder, streaming meida, Push 2 Talk, speakerphone and voice recorder."
AAC is a nice touch. This looks like a great phone. Until seeing the flyer though, I had no idea that P2T cuts battery life so dramatically (9 days down to 3 days).
Now i know why my 7400 battery has been cr@p lately - i started using P2T when it launched.
Sorry I missed that post. Yeah P2T and battery life is a real problem, I am also currently using 7400 and get about 1.5 days. When they say 3 days in the promo stuff it normally equals about 1 day in real life. Not acceptable in this day and age, especially when the old 5120 used to do at least 4-5 days. I guess that is the price you pay for all the technology tacked onto the phone
i'm sure the beautiful screen on that thing doesn't help battery life either. (compared to the old monos what went 10 days)
add swappable battery in phones, and that means it's got one up on an ipod already.
Yeah - I thought i was going nuts and didnt equate a 50% drop or moree in battery life that i was experiencing with when i started using P2T, its only natural though - the phone must make hundreds of data calls every day when it updates its status on the network??
Can anyone confirm this type of activity? Would be the only way i can think of to explain the huge power usage.
