jaidevp: We have 2100 in the following locations, there are more will advise after looking up :)

Auckland
Hamilton
Rotorua
Wellington
Nelson
Christchurch
Queenstown
Dunedin
Invercargill

In another words: don't bother with 2100 Mhz devices. you won't have coverage everywhere. A 850 MHz device will give you 100% coverage on XT.

ok. i have been looking at buying a smart phone but cant realy find one the has 850hmz frequency

The iPhone is a perfect fit for XT. The HTC Touch Pro 2 is available from Telecom and parallel. The Nokia E71 is also available from Telecom. I see a few smartphones around.

Damager: Check out the HTC Touch Pro 2. I run Garmin XT on mine and it runs great.

Check out a review here:

Thanks for the link however I'm not a big fan of the resistive touch screens. Touch screens in general, whilst a great feature, aren't as practical for me as a standard keypad i've decided.

And as such, i have ordered an N86. It's not so different to my N82, but that's okay as i like the way everything works on that device.

Now all i have to do is wait for it to arrive and get my head around transferring over to XT and i'll be away.

The Touch Pro2 sold by Telecom is the 850/2100 model. This is the same model sold by Telstra for their NextG 3G 850 network, as well AT&T in the USA

Search for T7381 which is 850/2100. The generic worldwide model is T7373 = 900/2100.

To be sure you're comfortable purchasing the correct model, buy it from Telecom.

- Telstra HTC Touch Pro2 - Energy ROM WM6.5.5 20 Oct/Cyanogen Mod Froyo 2.2 - R.I.P
- AT&T Galaxy S Captivate 16GB on XT (now with brother)
- Samsung Galaxy S2 on XT- Runs ICS 4.0.3 Resurrection Remix 9.2
- Business Hours - Work In The Electricity Industry, After Hours - DJ/Turntablist - Will Scratch Vinyl For Free'
- What's next??? S3?

That's because there are two models - and you are right, most will be 900/2100 MHz, but if you want 850/2100 MHz then you have to look at Australian parallel suppliers (Telstra uses the same bands as Telecom NZ).

Unless there's a lot to save, better to get something locally though.

This is slightly off topic but related to XT coverage.
Has anyone found their signal suddenly just fails and seems to drop out at times? (only very briefly) I'm 700m from the cell tower at home, and with an e75 and Samsung C5220, both at times just randomly cut out (not at the same time though).
This doesnt fall in line with operating microwaves or anything either.

I've heard setting the phone to just 850mhz or something helps?

Sony xperia x1a American version 850mhz 3g
htc touch HD 850mhz
htc tilt 2
htc pure

go to phonesdirect.co.nz
expansys.co.nz
they have got a lot.

Yes I am the same as you. Symbian is defunct. :-) but iPhone is great great!

Nokia n97 is too slow, not my favorite.

Yes iPhone is the best choice.

Lol. Symbian was chosen anyhow. Good luck on that n86, symbian is still wildly popular here in NZ. By the way, it's good to see you switching to XT, like I did. I just stick to my unjailbroken iPhone.
