3g: ...
Your post made me remember that Vodafone now has an "accept anything" policy with APNs (apart from B&W's one)
So to confirm, I deleted my vodafoneNZ APN setting and connected the MF626 to Vodafone 3G. And what do you know? It worked, and I could surf just fine!
So really, if no one knew anything about pretty much anything - it's as simple as slipping in your Vodafone SIM and hitting Connect. No messy stuff required, and it'll work with the Telecom APN.
But to try out how the software handles *99# and to prove that it doesn't accidentally connect - I put in Black and White's APN (www.m2.net.nz) with the number *99#, and clicked "Set default" and clicked Connect. It failed with
A connection to the remote computer could not be established, so the port used for this connection was closed.
So in summary:
- If you're on Vodafone, and can't be stuffed with APN settings with the T-Stick, you don't need to do anything with the settings. Just hit "Connect".
- If you need to set an APN, *99# is all you need for the dial number, but you must click "Set default" for the software to connect through that APN.
