However, I noticed these grammatical errors which seem to have escaped your attention:

Dr Reynolds said Telecom had doubled the processing power of its XT’s two radio network controllers since the outage, and that two additional RNCs would be installed in March.

I don't see an error here. The apostrophe in XT's represents possession between XT and the radio network controllers, while the use of the word its represents possession between Telecom and XT. Remember that an apostrophe is used to indicate possession in the case of a proper or common noun, but the apostrophe is omitted in the case of a pronoun.

There are plenty of clumsy grammar and punctuation errors out there in the mainstream media but this isn't one of them.

I have to say that whowever we may not like some of the mainstream content, spelling errors are not even close to what we see in forums, Twitter, Facebook, etc.

Yes, good point Alasta.

My initial thought was that the word its is superfluous in that sentence because Telecom could have simply said that XT's radio network controllers were whatever...

But on further examination, you may well be right.  Apologies to CK Embarassed

I do query this bit though:

All are wins from Vodafone, said chief executive Paul Reynolds. One is Toyota - ironically, another company immediately familiar with service issues.

The company had been with Vodafone for around 10 years.

The deal covers Telecom's corporate office but not franchises.

Does it mean Toyota's corporate office?

I actually someone confirmed this 25th of January this year (See Link)

And where they say:
"and one thing is clear: there maybe a single official carrier (Vodafone)"
Apparently... They are not the "Offical" carrier. So Says Vodafone
I Quote from what they told me on twitter:
"@CCDesign you've got to clear the original subsidy first. We are 'an' official carrier, not 'the' official carrier."

Vodafone have never stated they are THE official carrier, and instead have always said they are AN official carrier, so no revelations there. Previous discussions on here will confirm that.

So what other Mobile Providers are AN official carrier? (In New Zealand)

You're right, none. If they said they were 'the' official carrier then it implies exclusivity and that no one else could be an official carrier, which is why they've always maintained they are 'an' official carrier in the event that another provider also becomes an official carrier.

All I'm saying is that your tweet/post is nothing new, and has been discussed in previous threads, particularly when XT first went live and the rumours of the 3GS prior to it being released were rampant.

As i see it... They are THE official. But i suppose You can buy a iPhone and put it on XT, But XT Is not a official carrier is the point i was pushing.

"particularly when XT first went live and the rumours of the 3GS prior to it being released were rampant." And??? does that mean they are going to be an official carrier? No... As where my post says they will be getting the iPhone...

End of the day the rumours of Telecom officially getting the iPhone are nothing new, and if/when that happens, it's all just pure speculation. You aren't the first person to come in here claiming to have spoken to a "source" saying that they are getting it, so until that day happens I will remain dubious about so-called sources.

Vodafone NZ has said repeatedly that its iPhone agreement with Apple is not exclusive. Apple is free to appoint a second or third carrier. It hasn't yet.

Thats where your somewhat wrong

Vodafone is the "exclusive" carrier... Until Apple Does point a second or third carrier, Vodafone has it exclusively.

This is going nowhere fast, but you're wrong CeilingCat and your argument keeps changing. I have my iPhone on XT, so therefore Vodafone are not the exclusive carrier. If they were, this would imply I couldn't have my iPhone on anyone but Vodafone. A couple posts back you were arguing that Vodafone are the official carrier, now you're trying to argue they are the exclusive carrier!

Offical/exclusive. Just because you have it on XT doesn't mean its not exclusive... AT&T have it exclusively... Oh people have it on more then one network...
But yes its going no where...

I meant exclusive in the manner of AT&T's original exclusive iPhone deal in the US, under which no other carrier could sell the iPhone. The door was shut for X number of years.

In NZ, Vodafone is merely the first telco to sign with Apple. In theory, if they could terms, Telecom could stock the iPhone tomorrow.

Exactly... But Vodafone are the only ones that do sell it... (For now any way :P)
