Hspa+ is available to any device that supports it.

It hasn't been "locked down" since well before Christmas.

Telecom NZ havent promoted Hspa+ for a number of reasons ... and I predict in the next few months that will change.

Not entirely true. HSPA+ was still locked down well into January (at least in the Wgtn region on all the test sites) when I was doing my network testing between Vodafone and XT.

Hspa+ has been in Welli since before Xmas and it was locked down preXmas, but not in Jan (except for a brief period due to network work)

PaulR was going to showcase Hspa+ preXmas in Welli but it fell through, and it was soft-launched at Joes Garage.

Inbound Roamers probably saw it before Tnz customers did - due 850/2100 airport tunnel and CBD, and that the first Hspa datacards TNZ had were onsale after the first Hspa+ cell went live.

Just had a go with a Aircard 503 here in Wellington.

and

Not too shabby if you ask me, espcially the ping time.

Plus I downloaded Sharepoint Services 3.0 64Bit which is ~120MB file using WGET:

100%[======================================>] 123,294,880 1.06M/s   in 2m 8s

2010-05-11 19:19:08 (938 KB/s) - `SharePoint.exe' saved [123294880/123294880]

It peaked around 1.21M/s ... nice...

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

FYI I just did some very basic testing on a new Sierra Wireless 308 HSPA+ USB stick... Looks like you guys have much better HSPA+ capability/capacity than I do!

Did a comparrison with CDMA Rev A and my Telecom BigTime plan <irk>, go HERE to read my very rough report.
