Same here. There's no way to predict my usage per month; I'd rather pay for what I use and if I go over the amount, have the remaining texts/data etc free. I kind of wished the others did something similar. Or if not, maybe give the choice to customers.

Agreed.

It does work for some people, especially those who don't always text alot or use as many texts. Maybe having both options could be an idea.

Just depends on what floats your boat? :P

i may be wrong, butif you subscribe to a extra plan e.g . txt 2500 , for $12 a per month and you only use say $8 worth..would Telecom still not charge you the full $12 at roll over?

if thats the case then are you not better off not taking any txt or MB plan so your strictly user pays?

my concern is...if i wanted to be just user pays per txt/MB/voice call..then i would not sign up to the offered plans (txt 2500/20MB data/my favourite)

nzbnw:
Stryfe: At this point in time, TCNZ prepay works on a calendar month, so from the first day of the month to the last day of the month.

Nope this changed last year, Text and Data extras (excluding Prepaid 500MB) are valid from the date you subscribe until that same period the next month (i.e. 15th to the 14, 4th to the 3rd and so on).

What? When did this change? I'm sure I was still on Calendar month when I used XT until recently??

As the man said, sometime last year the change from calendar month billing. However you won't have noticed unless you happened to have changed an addon extra on a different day than the first of the month... My data rolls over on the 1st of the month and texts on the 3rd.

That's strange. When I first shifted over to XT it was 10 days till the end of the month. The rep just said that I would have an extra long month with 10 days + the month after. My texts roll over at the end of the month now.

This was reasonably recent I thought, but maybe I have just lost track of time...

If it's like the $10 texting on their old CDMA, then yeah, they will only charge $8 if it's $8 worth of texts etc used up. They won't charge the full $12 until 60 texts ($12 worth of texts @20c/text) are sent.

Not really - I would still pay for what I use, except on the months where I have higher texts usage, I would get the text extras.

Correct me if I'm wrong. I haven't been on Telecom for a while, but my first phone was on their old network and when I switched away, I was extremely confused that Vodafone didn't bill the same way. I'm kind of thinking about switching back because of the 500MB mobile data. 10c/MB is very tempting.
