In a month the first 300MB are charged at 10c/MB. the next 200Mb are free. the next 300Mb charged at 10c/MB, then a further 200Mb free. After that, every Mb is 10c.

and you get the bonus credit too, which means that if you top up $60 you get $80, which is effectively the same as a 25% discount on whatever you buy.

I just hope they have enough stock when I go and get one next week

If you were going to go through 2x data blocks at a price of $30 per 500mb, wouldn't it be best going to Vodafone? That's assuming your in a good place that offers 3G

Just Saying.

The iPad plans are the same as their PP Broadband plans..

I read the herald article which didn't include the pricing for the 2gb and 4gb plans, so I went to www.telecom.co.nz and searched for iPad...

No results found.

I thought Telecom PR would have been more savvy!

Just had a thought, this should be ok but opinions welcome until I can get to a store and ask:

I'm on the 2GB postpaid plan for $49.95 per month, and I use the SIM in my Mi-Fi device. I'm thinking I could go in to a store, move this plan on to a micro SIM, then use it in my iPad and then chuck the SIM into an adapter so I can use it in the Mi-Fi when needed.

If you knew you were definitely going to use 1GB+ then yes
For 2 x 500MB used in full it's a $5 difference as far as I can see.
Telecom: $30+$30 less 25% effective discount for bonus credit is $45 for 1GB
Voda: $30 +$10 for double data = $40

however if you knew you were going to spend $45 (after bonus credit) on Telecom you might as well get the 2GB plan which costs the same ($60 less 25% bonus credit)
Similarly on Voda for $50 ($10 more) you can get the 3GB iPad plan.

Where Telecom can work out cheaper is if you are unsure of what yoiur usage is going to be (and lets face it, with the ipad we have no idea really what our usage might be since nobody has had them for more than a couple of months), and, as per the question from bobmeister, it is charged per MB, not a 'use it or lose it'.

e.g. using only 280MB costs you $30 on the Voda 500MB plan (or $40 if you went for the 250MB iPad plan and had to buy a second one - no overage at all allowed), but only $28 on Telecom cos they only charge you10c/MB up to 300MB

similarly using 550MB cost you $40 on Voda but only $35 on Telecom.

prob not allowed to mention it in print (and on website) for trademark reasons. IIRC they got stung last year using the word 'ipod' on an advert without apple's permission.

the plans are the same as normal Mob BB plans though so just look in that section. (and def go prepaid cos of the bonus credit. saves you 25%)
