Yes, the cable and clip are for improving the signal where required.

Just thought I'd update the thread about my usage experience of SW308.

I've been at Code Camp and Tech Ed the last few days, and been using the SW308 right at the heart of the city (Starbucks next to SkyCity). The speed is roughly: 3.5MBs down, 0.2MBs up, 35ms ping.

I'm not overly upset about the speed, good enough for me, but I do feel the Telecom ad was a bit misleading, the "Turbo" T-Stick was certainly not turbo, compare to my Android handset...... If this is a location issue... then where should we be to get this Turbo speed???

Anyhow, just my 2 cents :)

You mean 3.5Mb/s? (megabit) because hot damn, 3.5MB/s is smoking!

When using it in Wellington I have got on the 503 1.02MB/s down and 300KB/s up out in the burbs near the airport where I live.  On the Sierra 885/880 it peaks around 500KB/s down in the same location.

I find it's worth trying outside rather than inside and seeing what difference you get.  Plus a 10CM+ usb cable is always good with the dongles to get it as far away from the laptop as possible.  As with all wireless technology YMMV.
