I used to work for Telecom and always found they do take good care of their staff and this just reaffirms it. Hope you're back up and running soon Neil.

I'd like to echo the thanks to Telecom since the quake - stunning help, even distributing analogue phones to the many people who don't have them any more (we did though!), and making the public phonebooths free.  Awesome for people like me in the burbs.  I'm in New Brighton, but was away on holiday on The Day - being able to get in touch with my daughter (who was at school in the city centre) and my parents who are elderly was vital to my sense of sanity.  On our return home, my only contact with the world outside (with no power, water, sewerage) was via my cellphone, and it didn't let me down.  The landline was back on by Friday.  BTW Orion workers deserve congrats too - they have worked SO hard to get the power back up.
