The Internet isn't going to save the world - can't think of any single thing that will in fact, unless you count common sense :)
I still like to think that a populace with the option to be informed is better than one that doesn't have that choice. And making the choice for the populace not to have access to the information, no matter how it is used, well, should that lie with a monopoly provider?
As for the reference to
Fairfax and the possible closure of some locally produced magazines, I think that would be sad. Though I haven't bother with any of the magazines mentioned for a long time it's always sad when people lose their jobs.
I can't however understand why anyone would keep PC World running... references to toilet paper would be too obvious... has anyone read it lately? I gave up when it appeared the editorial stance was inflicted somehow with syphilis...
I hope you've told PC World editorial about this. Don't really know what you mean by the editorial stance, but you can always email me privately if you want me to forward any comments - anonymously is fine. Please remember though: I don't have the slightest influence there.
I digress. In essence Juha, I'm just saying I don't trust big business, the bigger, the less trust worthy, and the closer to government... not just foreign government, but our very own too (Muldoon / CIA, Labour / Monsanto)
It's just my prerogative to question lists provided by any organisation, especially when the lists can be used for any sort of influence (whether that's a fickle population, a lazy media, or a large corporation)
