DonGould: Now to balance that comment... good luck finding an Orcon store in eastern Christchurch that you can just drop into with your modem and ask someone to just explain what all those stupid holes are actually for.

what mite telecom's core business be? providing crappy service for cheap?

Oh crap, clearly I didn't write my post very well if that's the question you came back with.

l43a2: i had no issues with Telecom broadband before all this proxy crap was added. i would always tell my friends to join up with telecom as they were the fastest/best in my mind, but now im having to tell people to go with vodafone/slingshot etc :(

I'm glad to hear you're recommending vodafone and slingshot to your people.

The sooner we balance out customer bases in the market to have a larger number of reasonable sized providers the sooner we'll all have a better level of service.

nixgear: did you manage to sort this out? I called Telecom support numerous times and no-one seemed to even know what I was talking about and didn't know what a transparent proxy is.

Seems strange to me that they are placing static IP users behind the transparent proxy and not normal users.

Yeah, I got it sorted in the end. Just keep trying, maybe try them on email?

That's good to hear. I think I'll try again in Jan hopefully talk to some local support staff.
