Slingshot these days is a hell of a lot more reliable then the "old days", Since the changes around Oct 2011 I've been able to use p2p at almost line rates during peak times. Some users have even reported full line rates.

However the T's & C's say yes there will be prioritisation during high demand times. However over the xmas holidays theres been plenty of bandwidth there has been many days were there is bandwidth to spare (For unlimited plans)

I'm currently in the same situation as you are. I'm on the Total Home Broadband 100GB and it's just not enough for my internet needs. I'm really thinking about switching to Slingshot's All You Can Eat plan to try it out since it has no Contract. But the thing is, my father said that we've been with Slingshot before and that we received a bad connection, slow speeds and even bad customer service. But if what the above poster says is true, then I'm really thinking about making the change.

You're paying for quality of service. Slingshot is a quantity, not quality internet provider.
My modem syncs at 21 megabit. I can max this out any time of day on telecom, no worries. On slingshot its another matter. These days telecom is probably one of the fastest ISPs.

You get what you pay for.

I can see that, I've been with Telecom for 2 years or so and the service is great. My Thomson TG585v7 Modem only gets me about 9 Megabits at the maximum at around 12PM or so. Surely I'd stick with Telecom but their data plans just aren't big enough.

I read the CEO of telecom may be stepping down this year. Is whoever the favourite to become the new CEO a person willing to increase data caps?

If there will be a new CEO, and he'll increase data caps to maybe 250GB or more, then I'll be definitely staying with Telecom.

And there will indeed be a new CEO, Paul Reynolds is most definitely stepping down.
But John is right, the CEO has zero to do with that sort of thing.

I hear the CEO of BiddleCorp sets the size of his plans... So why doesn't every company?

I rang up telecom asking about a dailup plan and they said I had to have a dailup modem connected to the phone line to set it up. zzz

question. can I use the dailup on any line once set up? And it'll work alongside the slingshot ADSL? (not one or the other)

Actually yes... for example Telstra (AU) under David Thodey significantly changed the agenda and strategy of the company and started the "data cap wars" in AU.

Dial up uses the voice frequencies.. so sure you could use dial up and DSL on the same line at the same time but you can't use the phone and dial up at the same time.. ie: if you get a phone call it will disconnect the dial up or if you pick up the phone you will hear the dial up modem.\

My advice, don't bother with dial up.

Oh right, a dial up account that you are not using shouldn't affect your lines in any way.
