Well Youtubes at 6:46 PM are still cr&p and I am on Pro, so Youtube on big time is anybodys guess I would have to put my money on worst then cr&p.

yeah i told my friend about the "golarge V.2.0" last week and he's currently waiting for a ph call from telecom asking him if he'd like to change from the old golarge plan he's on but as far as he's concerned if it's going to cost more than he's paying now it'll be sod off (and thats me being polite) to who ever rings him personally i feel sorry for the poor buggar that's going to make the call, ode to be fly on the wall when that conversation happens LOL

Getting over 1mB/s tonight, making my PS3 connection fantastic :) Really annoyed my friend who took 3 days to get Tekken 5, while I had it in 20 minutes :)

Hey, I was wondering If I should change from the adventure plan to the Big time plan. 10gb is enough for gaming and webpages (which is adventage 10gb) but cant do much downloading and you tube just eats average 340mb which is the daily usage.

So do you think I should try big time out? As long as webpages load fast then I dont really care. Do they?

How is youtube on this plan? 24/7 streaming? And what about gaming is there a disadvangtage with gaming on big time over another plan? Ping?

It is a managed plan so it will be slower at times than the adventure plan, but youtube is rocket quick, downloading at sync speed if it's cached, people had trouble with this at first but it seems to be fine now.

What servers you connect to for gaming? I can ping a few and post the results if you want.

Remember, you are allowed two plan changes a month if one of them is to Big Time, so if you don't like it you can change back within the same month. Usually you are only allowed one plan change a month on Telecom.

But what I mostly care about is loading webpages and stuff. Does it ever feel like dail up speeds on the internet? As Ive heard its been like this from some people. So managed, it will be slowly at times but dail up?

I have no complaints, but I've only been on BT since last Friday, and some other people have found it slow. I think it will be teething problems personally more than ongoing issues.

It's much quicker than my old ISP, thats for sure.

What's the peak time 6-12pm performance of general http like now after the tweaks this week?

Chiefly Facebook performance is fairly critical to the flatmate approval factor.

Any VFX users on Big Time? I am currently with TelstraClear on PDQ and am contemplating switching over to Big Time, but am interested to know if VFX is still usable?

Yup, that DL's in around 1 minute (4 minute video) on my Big Time connection from the cache server v17.lscache7.l.google.com [210.55.180.158] which BTW has a ping of 8ms :)

You said you were pulling it from v4.lscache1.googlevideo.com on my machine resolves to 210.55.180.153 which looks like it's in the same Data Centre (not that you can assume for certain with only IP)

Looks like something is wrong with the caching, you should be pulling it from the cache at near line speed.

Try logging a fault, unless NeilR is someone else from Telecom is around?!?!?

I think I'll log a fault tomorrow unless any other shining lights come out overnight.

And strangely enough I didn't log the fault, but UT streaming is now great.
Seems like they fixed the cache server and now it's feeding from it's local cache.

To be honest, the speeds (even with the limiting during "heavy times") are great for me.
Outside peek times 6 mbit to Sydney, 1-2 mbit to LA for download speeds.
Inside peek times it varies but I've seen nothing less than 250kbit to Aussie and 100kbit to US currently and been on for a week.
