I love the T60c and still have it works well and I know what flaws it has (as I was showing Taniwha earlier) if you try and delete a voice tag the phone will crash.
I loved the features of all my Ericsson and SE phones, but at the same time annoyed by UI shortcomings.
Recent SE have a much better UI, and to be honest the old Ericssons were better than the interfaces in other handsets in the same era.
i wonder what stopped SE cdma this time?
Sent my 6255 away at the beginning of last week, got it back mid way thru this week, (Just long enuff to get used to the space key being in a diff place on a sanyo!)
Fault fixed, hasn't missed a beat, and I am very happy with the phone, and the response/repair time.
Didn't get a bigger MMC card, but it worries me not as I got an extra 1gig job when I was ordering cards for my Pioneer CD Turntables.
I had 3 Nokia 5120's, One survived a trip on the roof of the work truck at 100kays for 20 mins, and when it did finally come crashing down past the windscreen infront of me it kept working and didn't miss a beat. The 2nd one survived a swim in a Coruba pool at work, after some hot water cuboard action it kept going, and I think the 3rd one is still sitting in a box here somewhere. (The other 2 both got stolen progressively, and were replacements for preceeding phones.
Those 5120s had great reception too, I seem to recall that being the reason we had them as work issue phones, they were the only thing to still have reception in our server/uplink room.
I used to treat them pretty bad too, throw em around, leave em in the sun, on the dash of the car (Hence the fact they got stolen).
Im not sure about a 2 gig maybe one of the more tech guys can answer that.
I'm pretty sure one of the std answers will be that it will officially support only 512mb as thats what they are coming out with here.
I have a 1 gig mmc card
BUT:
Music player
Am very frustrated with the fact that that song list is only 200 songs long so when setting the music player going it will only play from a selection of 200 songs. To compound this when trying to play an album or tracks not on the list via the gallery the player will only play 1 track then you have to manually select the next etc etc etc. Even though the provided software will automatically save by artist and album file tree method.
Photos
This is unknown how many pics or short vids you can save but I would suspect you may run into a similar problem to the above. May some oone with lots of pics on their phone can help!
Storage
You could use a 2 gig card for storage via a card reader but you would then have to keep removing the battery etc
Basically as an mp3 or music player the short sited programming can't cope with a 1 gig so in my humble opinion it would be a waiste of time going to 2 gig unless you have another specific reason.
There are a few other programming issues if you read back through this thread and we in NZ here have had no rumours that Nokia or telecom are interested in fixing things up. The sound quality is great but if you where looking to carry this around as a phone/music player forget it.
Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.
I got my hand on a Kingston MMC plus 1GB retail package and it says "2GB card may require updated device drivers." I just want to find out before spending $150usd on a 2GB card. Here is the place http://www.oempcworld.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=MMC
or www.buy.com has pretty decent price on flash mem , too. (but they don't have 2GB)
Thank you all for the infos
Do you guys pay sales tax on purchases in Aust./NZ ?
As brad said, it will work but not officially. Unfortunately in these cases it's a matter of try before you buy. Since it's Kingston, the chances of it working will be quite high though.
Just bought the N6255- and if I would have gone through this thread earlier- would have laid off buying the phone for now.
I am running
MS Windows XP
Build 2600, SP2
Microsoft Bluetooth Stack
Version 5.1.2600.2180
Nokia PC Suite 6.6.16
My Phone is running on
N150V0400.nep
06-06-05
rm-19
While using Nokia PC Suite, all the features work except Install Applications.
When I click on Install Applications and select the folder in which the S45 JAD & JAR files are located, it shows only the JAR file and on the right panel (My Phone) it says "No supported phone selected"
I have used both Bluetooth and USB Data Cable (DKU-2) but to no avail- any inputs?
Maybe it's something to do with your operator locking down the feature to install applications? (If possible on this model.)
I have never had any luck with the Nokia Data Suite but I think that's just because I'm using a wonky setup (DSE XH6402 and cannot seem to install the drivers higher than 1.3). I have, however, installed applications via wap and Oxygen Phone Manager II.
The latest firmware in NZ is N100V1700.nep which I'm not sure whether that's later than yours or not but I suspect that the firmware is operator-specific anyway.
If you want to see whether you could install programs via wap and don't mind paying a little bit for the data, install WLIrc (http://wirelessirc.sourceforge.net/), a free IRC client for Java cellphones, via your phone and see whether it lets you install it.
The services that I am suscribed to is Reliance- and though with my old phone I could browse over the air- now I am limited to connecting via my laptop. according to people at Reliance, over the air browsing is not supported by them for this model.
Strangely Nokia customer Care claims that I should be able to install applications using bluetooth...
I am off to another round of talks on their helpline...
