Hi,
I believe I've found your case and looking at it now. (Original date for connection was 31st Jan, But chorus re-booked it to 5th Feb, then again to 7th Feb - is that the one?).

Really sorry for the length of time this is taking.

Yep that's me. I appreciate it, feel to give me a call on my cell phone if you need any info - haven't got access to email once I get home from work as I've now run out of mobile data!

Just heard from my team. Looks like you are now connected up. Let me know if not.

Seems like a process issue between us and chorus, so we'll be raising that with them to ensure we don't get a repeat.

Cheers

Thanks, sorted now.

metalla: Certainly seems that way. Hopefully it can go back, otherwise, anyone in the market for a really great modem router?

There's still my (actually very good) router :P - http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=77&topicid=138987

What did you switch to in the end?

Currently still soldiering on with the x3500, I have a truenet.co.nz router on the way, and ill either grab a modem, or re-use one of the ones I have lying around. Read some positive thoughts on the Thompson one, ive also got some tp-link stuff lying around that might be worth a shot.

All in all though happy with BigPipe, my pings in gaming are solid, whereas with orcon they would go from ~50ms up to nearly 1000ms on a regular basis.  Download speeds maybe aren't as fast as they used to be, but that's not a huge deal.
This is what I wanted to hear :) Are you on the VDSL or one of the ADSL plans with BigPipe? also what were you previously on with Orcon as they are who I am currently with.

I'm on ADSL (Fast) on bigpipe (no vdsl where I am :( ), and was on Genius 80gb on Orcon.

9TB?  Pretty impressive.  Is that on ADSL or VDSL? Would love to know what you are doing to use that much data (clearly not just gaming or streaming netflix)

Silly question as to if it's ADSL or VDSL haha, lets do some quick math.

24mb/s (amusing if you actually got a litterally PERFECT line) is the download speed.

24 / 8 (converting mb/s into Mb/s) x 60 (seconds in a minute) x 60 (minutes in a hour) x 24 (hours in a day) x 29 (days in a month) = 7516800mb

Regardless what the hell your doing Cbfd you must be damn near maxing out your line.

:D  I've got about that much Steam catalogue undownloaded, but the problem is my hard drive size :(

Will be upgrading soon though.

Good to hear you are seeding. That VDSL upload speed makes it a lot better for sharing all that legal content.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

I did wonder that when I wrote it.  serves me right for not doing the math. :D

You're all making me jealous!!

I think I'm out of my 24month contract with orcon so I'll hopefully make the switch next week when I can afford to buy a new modem/router so can't wait for VDSL!!!!

Even after going through bigpipe support, my $79 plan speeds are about 8-9 mbps (down from 16-17 download from orcon). Its all good though, its stable, torrents fine via a VPN upto the max available speed and games well too.

Thanks for the service bigpipe!

Edit:  I said $79 because I cant remember if its super fast or turbo term they have given it, as its all free until end of march.

Hi, curious to know what the solution was here as I am having the exact same problem; DSL is connected at 50 up/10 down but cannot authenticate and thus no internet. I won't be waiting 3 weeks before changing ISP like the OP either!

Sounds familiar.  Adsl training up but PPP refusing to to authenticate.  Was a provisioning issue in the exchange and the took lots of driving of Chorus by the Bigpipe team to get them to provision it correctly in my case

Just went to check on this one, and seem like you are now sorted too.  Had to wait for Chorus to close off the order.
Let me know if not.
