sonamsaxena: The services that I am suscribed to is Reliance
Perhaps this should be another thread? The current one is a summary of problems found on Telecom New Zealand's version of this phone.

If no one complains I am going to lock this thread.

Well, dammit, I love this little phone :D

I got it last week, and my only gripe is an intermittent thing of it not ringing when people call me. Hopefully it'll smooth out over time. I love the fact that it has BT, I'm able to pair it with my G4 Powerbook and create folders on the 512 card, edit my mp3s with Amadeus and set them as ringtones, LOVE the games, love the big keypad, sound quality is great ... very impressed with what was aptly described by a telecom rep as the "pack of ciggies" phone ;)

not ringing and going straight to voicemail? or not ringing, but the caller hears the "brrrng brrrng" tone?

If its going straight to voicemail, then thats probably a network issue, not a phone issue.

Its -very- common in Hawkes Bay, Hastings especially. (With any make/model of phone).

There was a seperate issue of Sanyo 7400s having this fault too - there is a software fix available for that, but it does not cure the completely seperate network issues.

Intermittently, it rings about 3 times and then goes straight to a/p, although my phone doesn't ring at all. I've tested it myself - rang my number, heard the caller tune go for about 10 secs, then click to a/p without my phone so much as vibrating. Weird - yes?

as you can see i reside in the US. i just heard from my friend that his friend who has this phone, the Nokia6255i, has returned the phone 7 times for another unit(7) becasue of software problem. Is there any fix out there? OR, my best guess is, the issue won't be fixed by Nokia(?!) Any idea out there? I just love this phone.

Typically CDMA phones software is heavily dependent on the network provider, Telecom NZ had some issues with the 6255 and i believe nokia dispatched someone while the phone was pulled from sale as a software fix was created. After this the phone returned to sale, new units were upgraded and old units or problem units could be serviced.

we are a dealer had the option to upgrade my 7400 to 6235 or 6255, I went for the 6255. I knew all about the issues with the 6255, so I checked the software version on my phone and it's V N100V1000.nep 22-03-05, strange!!!
I asked our prod manager when these were purchased, he says around mid July..

I check the box and it has a red dot sticker on it, you know those stickers that indicate the product has been updated or something... The other two also have these red dot stickers..
Phone came with 32mb mmc in box, checked cellect pricing which was dated 8 July, it said the phone comes with 32mb mmc...

well haven't experienced the power off issue.. will see...

I'm Australian and Optus just handed me a 6255 today. SW is N100V1300.nep 04-03-05 and the phone is blue. $0 down thanks very much!

I don't expect the worst problems described so far and, though I'm still waiting for Optus to hook me up properly at least the BT worked fine with my mac. Only bummer so far is no isync.

Anyone else with this SW# ?

Welcome to Geekzone. Still waiting for my 6255...

$0 is a nice price. What sort of contract do you have to take in Oz (price and term) to get that level of phone free?

It's part of a business package. 55 minutes/month, half price 7am-7pm, 11c/5-minute calls to home landline. Plus charge-sharing with my wife's new nokia 6225 (35 mins/month) which was also $0 down. For an extra $3/month she could have also had a 6255 but wanted antenna-less for horse-riding.

All of which sounds like a good deal except we spent 8 years in the US where you pay a tenth of the call charges ... on the other hand over there you have no civil liberties and an overwhelming debt crisis in the wings etc etc. But cheap!

Thats a new angle for the carriers here...

"We'll cut call costs by 90% across the board if we can destroy all civil liberties, and plunge the country into further massive debt - but hey - ur phone bill will be cheap!" - Lotsa luv from Telecom and Vodafone.

(Tongue in cheek silliness has just been displayed)
