PhantomNVD: Thanks guys, that worked!

Any reason this isn't an automatic process, given that I reached month end already?

Not sure I haven't had to renew just yet but from what I've seen and heard there management via the dashboard really needs work and hopefully they make an app for it or add it to their current app

And I haven't tested this but am I correct in saying that when you run out of data you can't even get to the dashboard to manage your account and renew the plan because if so that is just stupid

You can also manage your modem and check your usage via the Huawei HiLink App (which is available from the app stores). This app has the same functions as logging into your modem online via http://192.168.1.254 so it makes tracking easy for you.

You will still be able to visit the Skinny page and login to your dashboard as it is classed as zero-rated traffic (i.e you won't be charged for data). If you have trouble still, you could also login to your dashboard using mobile data on your phone. Or just give us a ring on 0800 4754669 (08004SKINNY)

My first plan renewal went very smoothly, I renewed it when I had a few gb left from a 10 gb add on.    So the dashboard showed 60 gb plus four for a total of 64gb.

I just got off the phone with a Skinny rep who insisted 4G broadband was not available in my area.  Earlier I address checked my parents house for 4G which returned a "not available in your area".

My phone was already connected to Spark 4G and being used as an access point for 3 laptops in the house so clearly it was available. Not to mention my neighbour 4 houses away is on Skinny broadband....

Anyway when I queried her on this she replied Skinny use the 700mhz spectrum which is not the same as Spark.   At that point I just said I'll call back and speak to another tech then hung up..

I would hope her response is due to a lack of training and not deliberate, if a rep doesn't have an answer they should say so, not make things up on the spot....

Anyone care to comment? :)

After 24 pages of posts 4g coverage is not the prerequisite to coverage.

Yep, but he said "4 houses away" apparently have it already?

Maybe the already met their subscriber cap in that area?

Prerequisite? What prerequisite we already have 4G coverage obviously.  However that isn't my point, the point is if Skinny don't want to add more connections to avoid congestion they should be straight up and not lie about it.

Tbh there's prob nothing to stop me ordering a router and connecting it myself since they uplink to the nearest tower......

"Lie" is quite harsh. How do you know it's a lie and not an error?

Sure you can connect it but as I mentioned in previous pages if you have been told or checked coverage and it's marginal or non-existent then take the 30 days money back - it is your right and that settles. But I wouldn't make a fuss, because there was the warning before.

Please note I am not talking about your specific case - I am talking generally.

Did you not read my post?  I was already connected to 4G through my phone at the same house where 4G "was not available" according to the rep. That's how we got broadband.

It's my parents place they moved in 3 days ago and wanted an internet connection. I set up a WAP to 3 laptops and a desktop using my phone which is with Spark.  Furthermore I checked the download speed which was 4x faster than at my place 4 streets away were have ADSL, and I don't mean ADSL2.  It's cut and dried.

And no I don't see it as harsh.... I gave her an out, as an IT tech I explained to the rep how things work, at that stage it wasn't a lie, it's just misinfo etc...I mean u know a lot of ISP reps work of a script  and whatnot..- but that's OK.. however she insisted and kept arguing with me.

If someone asked you a question that you don't have an answer to, and you KNOW you don't have the answer, you reply "I don't know" (I hope)...  But giving information which is knowingly made up, or possibly false, well it's a lie in my book....

On top this things were already stressful because my Mum was quoted $850 by Spark to have broadband connected to the house.

My first thought was why a tech was even coming when ADSL/VDSL isn't an option for her, only 4G is.....

I found out later the rep plugged UFB and did not offer another choice. The way UFB is pushed down the throats of uninformed customers by some reps is shameful...

Needless to say I cancelled the Spark onsite job....

Well after some thought I agree lie is harsh, poor information maybe.  Lies come down from the top in my exp, (here's looking at you XTRA Unlimited :P).

Skinny have been great in general....maybe staff training could include more accurate/valid info... seems to be a few people given the same incorrect info... .

Kudos to the Skinny rep here btw, it's refreshing to see a community manager who doesn't paint bright pretty pics of the company he's repping.. lol    No one is perfect...:D
