If OJO is a broadband video conferencing sort of video phone. Then those who are on WCDMA/3G has already got their "ojo"... And you are not fixed to a wired connection anyway, just make sure you're in 3G coverage! hehe... So there you go, "ojo" wherever you go, and not in the confinement of your home where naturally most broadband is affixed to.

Ojo is a brand for a service (hardware/software and gateway service). They do offer some distinct advantages in quality over and above 3G video calling (which i am a regular user of - about 1 - 4 hours video calling a week here).

Of course there is the price disadvantage too. But really I think Ojo and 3G Video calling are aimed at quite different segments of the market.

Here are a couple of pictures from the Ojo booth during the CES:

The first one is an enginneering/test model of the new Ojo for travellers. It plugs directly into a ethernet port and it works really well. I tested it during the show with some of their folks back in the office - they had to be on call for test calls. The final production units will look a bit different but work the same.

The second is the standard Ojo Personal Video Phone. I didn't know but they actually have two models. The first one connects to broaband and to a landline, thus being a cordless dual phone. The second model is plugged into the broadband connection only.

He didn't confirm how many Telecom New Zealand has agreed to purchase to sell here, but he seemed very optmistic about the local market, and one of the reasons for that is the large number of New Zealanders abroad at any given time.

He was surprised Telecom New Zealand didn't send any for us to test here...

Just for all to know it is official that the discounted monthly fee for Ojo service has been extended until June30, 2007.

It only costs $9.95 for UNLIMITED VIDEO TELEPHONE CALLS OJO TO OJO WORLDWIDE AT ALL TIMES.

In fact if you do purchase and register an Ojo or a Shadow Ojo during that time frame the discount will apply for the
remainder of 2007 and there is a further savings of one months fee if you pay annually.

WorldGate Communications stock closed at $1.26 on the first Friday in Feb 07 and the 4Q and annual report should be released
before the middle of March. Revenue was up over 400% 3Q over 2Q 06, from 186K to over 900K.

The Ojo has a 7 inch (on the diagonal), and the picture features smooth motion with AUDIO SYNCHRONY for a profoundly
realistic picture. Grandparents in particular love the Ojo because it enables them to have a relationship with their grandchildren
they would never have otherwise if they live at a distance!
