but I'm saying ain't you going through Telecom's standard BNG or actually running this through a completely separate network from Telecom's? Like, does the IP range come from Telecom or is it on a testing subnet?

Don't want to give too much away at this point about that sort of stuff. Basically though, we are as separate as is possible to be. Maybe sign up, and see what you think?

Interesting but I just signed up for Snap's VDSL and VoIP on a two year contract so won't be trialling. Price is good compared to Snap and 2Talk and NOW who have otherwise some of the best. I'd want VoIP but you can get it as an add on for $11 from companies like Xnet.

I like the unlimited and no contract. Keeping an eye on our cap is a pain. My husband tends to use a lot. As someone pointed out being a spin off of Telecom is more pro than con. I also just switched to Skinny. A flexible spin off company outside the behemoth corporate culture with backing and expertise to draw on from a big brother is more reliable than a start up and probably can afford to stay cheap over the long run.

Regarding VOIP, do you think that is something we should be providing (maybe as a bolt-on or something) or would you prefer to setup your own anyway?

Personally I think you should have it as an addon. Makes it simple for those people who want it. Maybe in a lockdown manner, where the customer must buy the ATA's from you preconfigured or something.

'fraid so. We're a totally separate ISP.

That also means you can't get served in a Telecom store, ring 123, sign up via Telecom website, get BigPipe on the same bill as your Telecom mobile etc.

Voip as an addon would be an great Idea I already have voip via Orcon Genius and it works great so wouldn't want to go back to an old POTs setup if I can really help it

Yes as an add on would be a good idea. I can foresee VoIP service and national calls over VoIP becoming pretty much bundled free from isp's in the near future.

VoIP is a must have option! If BigPipe doesn't have it, then they're missing out on revenue I'm giving WxC for VoIP lines.

I got my email today saying I was accepted for the trial. But unfortunately I can't get VDSL and only ADSL. Which doesn't surprise me. I'm too far from Airedale st.

I work for CallPlus so get Slingshot broadband for free so... need to decide. Would be nice to get unshaped unlimited internet though.

Yep, first bunch of invites went out today and had the first lot of people sign up via our website
Happy to take you on if you are employee of a competitor - makes us look good that people pick our products over their own

Now if only I could get the CEOs of Slingshot, Snap, and Orcon to sign up.....

Should be more invites going out tomorrow if you didn't.

We've also added some FAQs and a basic support page to our site (more stuff to come, but baby steps...), what do you guys think?

I'm still thinking about whether to accept. It's nice having free internet but it might be nice to have unshaped internet that's (most likely) more reliable. :) Plus it means my internet stays up during planned work that happens at night.

As for CallPlus CEO... well, he mentioned Skinny a whiles back about how awesome a deal it is and seems to love it. He should try BigPipe :P. And it was our CTO who mentioned bigpipe.co.nz in an email to staff when your site launched. Hence a bunch of us applied quite early.

BTW you guys aren't looking for any staff with telco experience, are you? :)

If you PM me your real name I can take a look at the list and give you an idea of when/if you might be getting an invite.

We'll be sending out invites probably until the end of this week, then taking a break over Xmas (new connections over Xmas break is not ideal for customer experience if things go wrong) then kicking back off in Jan, depending on how many people respond etc
