looking at my log on spark VDSL using the NF8AC i get a log entry like yours approximately every 15 mins.

Ok thanks for looking at that. And also thanks Talkiet, I will not worry about the port scanning :)
I'm happy to know it's not just me.
Any now will resume looking at the original problem. Will bring devices back online one at a time as required of next week or so and keep a close eye on performance.
