Hi there,

If the issue is the same, you should ask for the devices to be swapped for a comparable solution at no cost - forget the device, you purchased a "capability" and it doesn't deliver.

It might be the Okta Touch (don't do it), Samsung Global (Casio Calculator, coming soon), Blackberry (hell if that many people use it, it must be good? hmmm), Triton (go WM5!)...

Ah the blackberry path... ... ... ....

Good to remember that we are only 8 months away from Telecoms new network.. the number of devices to choose from should increase.

If the Okta Boss wasn't prone to lag/freezing issues I'd say it is the pick of the WM5/6 devices - the keypad makes all the difference, onehanded use... more a phone before a pda.

Good luck.

Does anyone know how to reset this phone?

They are basically refusing to swap this phone... do I have any ground to stand on? Was bought at before xmas, problems reported about 1.5 months ago.

I'm fed up now. I am not sending this thing back for another repair.

Look for the "Clear Storage" application...

Fonechick I forgot to mention, if you're having battery problems, check that Direct Push is not "always" enabled. As a default the phones come with it turned on I believe.

Expect to have at least 1 days battery life and not much more if you're using it.

-----

Infused, you should direct your query to the Okta Product Manager - this issue is now with HTC. Regardless of where the issue lies, hardware, software etc - the device is sold and managed by Telecom.

HI Infused.

Direct push? Hold down the HOME (looks like a house) button on the phone, it will take you to the Comm manager. On the right hand side, the middle icon is the direct push icon. Make sure it isn't green and it is turned off.

or

Directing query to Okta Product Manager? You'll have to go through your dealer if you do not have an account manager.

Thanks. Direct push is disabled, couldn't turn it on if I wanted to. I still only get about a day out of my phone though.

1st time using this forum, I'm just logging one more frustrated OKTA Boss user.  I won't go into the nightmare SYNCing problems I had and days wasted deleting and re-establishing partnerships, losing my phone contacts each time, loads of calls to help desk and finally someone explained the hard-reset.  NOw I'm trying to cope with the same all-to-frequent hang problems I see you all talking about.  I dropped into the telecom shop on Lambton Quay and of course he had never heard of any problems with this phone, then he asks his 3 staff all of whom have one and one says yes he has some hang problems and has to take the battery out.  They ring their tecko's and no acknowledgement that there might be a problem despite several posts in this forum where some of you have sent this link to telecom some time ago.  ONce again Telecom's left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.  Every re-seller should have been alerted to this issue and be able to help by now.  Looks like I am going to have to take this timewaster back into the shop again.
