Mavarick:

Well Chorus came today and reckoned I would get much more than the 5-7 download I already had,

anyway the swapped out the splitter and set the modem up ( I already had cat5e direct to the modem)

Boom they say I had 18 download and 1.2 upload, then congrats on above average ADSL speed

Did a speed test after they left and now its 16 download and 1.42 upload

so is over double what it was before. they did mention that 12 months ago they wouldn't even try an install in may area from ADSL to VDSL

That's similar to what my parents are getting now. Makes the wait for fibre a bit more bearable :o)

give it 10 days for DLM to do its thing an get may get a little better

also refrain from restarting the modem, this will only hamper your connection speed

josephhinvest: Well this thread has me excited that I may now be able to get VDSL. Tried to early last year and failed as my attenuation was 11db. Hopefully may now be able to get upgraded, if I've understood correctly. Yay!

Cheers,
Joseph

Yeah, you should be fine if you're under 15, as long as there are no other extenuating circumstances.

Well partial success at least so far. The upgrade order has gone through successfully.
"This is to let you know that we'll automatically switch you over to your new Spark Ultra VDSL plan on 08 July 2016 at 1659PM."

Cheers,
Joseph

I may have spoken too soon of course. Called Spark to query what would be involved, was told I had an appointment for technician to visit. Huh?
Realised I am working then, called back to spoke to a lovely girl in the Philippines (?) and changed the day of the appt.
Now this morning received and email advised its be changed again to a different day, that also doesn't suit.
Would love to talk to a local rep!

Oh you have to be freaking kidding me.

Yesterday afternoon: phoned, confirmed appointment for Monday 11th.
Last night: email received confirming appt for Friday 15th
This morning: text received confirming appt on Wednesday 13th.

Head explodes.

This might have something to do with the wet weather of late - they reported on the news last week that the response time for Chorus techs had stretched out to up to two weeks for fault resolution. I know when my phone/VDSL went down last month it took me three days to get it repaired, and that was before last week's deluge made everything even wetter.
