I think Spark has finally cracked the code with eSIM, here I'll explain my Skinny Physical Sim to eSIM process on Prepay Plan.

  1. Login to Skinny Portal > Request Transfer to eSIM > Enter First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, DOB, email address and Phone Number
  2. Confirm Phone Number > Receive txt Code > Enter txt Code in Portal
  3. Confirm ID with Driver License > Recieve txt to Web Portal > Take photo of Driver License front and back > Take mugshot
  4. QR Code recieved in the email > Add eSIM via QR code

Done this at home on a Friday night, last time I done this I had to go into store and wait for them to do all sorts.

As I posted in the travel thread, eSIMs aren't all they're cracked up to be:

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/familys-plea-after-kiwi-woman-kaya-awhitu-disappears-holidaying-in-bali/R5OBK36TIRDDZECEPZKSAXKR2Q/

“She got an eSIM card and she’s been hacked. Her whole phone has been taken over and she can’t log in.”

Like I said, I think I'll stick with my old-school SIM if I'm travelling overseas anytime soon. Better safe than sorry - although I can see how an eSIM could be useful for a data device (ie, a tablet with a data SIM only).

If you were using SMS for 2 factor on Facebook you would lock your self out with an eSIM would you not??

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

There's not enough info in this article to know that her having an eSIM is anything to do with her phone being compromised.

And why use SMS for 2FA on Facebook when there are much better solutions available.
