hmmm if i had received an email (which i didnt :-(.. never have any luck with these draws etc) i would've been really really really appreciative.. just shows that some people who entered, maybe shouldnt have been allowed into the draw.. makes it unfair..

How do you propose we decide at the time of entry that the person isn't going to be appreciative?

Maybe if that the people in question didn't give a good enough response, i.e. no even greatful for winning a free phone and/or sim card - then maybe another name should be drawn...

@Godzjr - remember to reply with your details!

I did reply, and nicely too. It made my day, my old phone is just about to give up and I didn't match all the Big Wednesday's numbers Money mouth

hmmm well it just really sucks that we got like a 1000 extra entries from 'non' geek people who were linked here from a competition website.. they should've have been allowed.. next time i recommend it be limited to GeekZone Members only...

Where does the line get drawn?

Above or below someone who of their total contribution of 10 posts to Geekzone, 3 are "sore loser" posts and at least a few more were only seeking personal technical support on XT issues, one could argue your contribution to this community should exclude you also?

Promotions like this aren't just to reward members. They also serve a purpose driving new traffic to the website and 1000+ new visitors is nothing to be scoffed at, even if only a couple of them hang around into the future . . .

All very good points folks... Don't get worked up though. There are lots of things coming - always. We try to make it better to everyone too.

Regardless of post count, just a requirement that the entering account should have been created *before* the competition was posted would do... ?

@mjb this is a good idead. Something to think about... Although it wouldn't work well for competitions like the HP ones we run with another 30 websites - in which each site drives traffic to the next one...

True... and it only helps for an ever decreasing amount of accounts - accounts opened to enter one competition are then created before the next.

Bad stuff aside, congrats to the winners!
