LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL now pandoras box is open LOL

I work in the industry, and directly with Telecoms corporate and high end business clients, and my partner works directly for Telecom :-) We work on some of the same customers too!!

Which was complete fluke - our jobs just wound up going in the same direction...

yes, Disenchanted - i've been trying to work out if you're someone i've emailed at least twice recently. Working for a mid sized comms company, and with your name..
it sure is a small industry.

Is there any more info about what drivers (or strings to use) to use to allow a T3 to work with the Nokia 6255. I tried the string posted on this thread but no go. Also tried the universal driver without success.

It would be goood to be able to write SMS on the Palm and also be able to dial out from it's address book.

All - Instructions below. This has definitely been tested with a T3.

NB : If you get a connect then an unexplained disconnect, get the phone upgraded as per the power off issue.

Setup for using a palmOne Handheld with a Nokia 6255

By setting up the Nokia 6255 as a data modem on a palmOne Handheld you can access the internet and email on the go!!! You can actually access the phone via both infrared and Bluetooth, however Bluetooth is the preferred method as it is faster and you don’t need line of sight, as you do with infrared (though some other phones only have infrared – so it is still possible to use them as a modem for your handheld but just a bit less convenient)

Ok here we go…

Step 1.) Ensure that Bluetooth is active on both the palmOne (tap the little “B” symbol in the task bar at the bottom of the screen) handheld and the phone (Menu, Connectivity, Bluetooth).

Step 2.) On the palmOne handheld, from the Application Launcher (press the Home symbol to get there), go to “Prefs”, then “Connection”, then press “New”.

Step 3.) In the “Name” field type a name for the connection – I suggest something along the lines of “Nokia Data Connection”

Step 4.) The “Connect to” should already by default be selected as “Modem” so you shouldn’t need to change anything.

Step 5.) The “Via” field should be set either “Bluetooth” (our preferred choice for the Nokia 6255) or “Infrared” for phones that only have infrared.

Step 6.) Tap the “Tap to Find” button, this will take you to the screen to search for your Bluetooth phone (make sure its turned on) Select your phone and go through the authentication process

Step 7.) The other two options, “Dialing” and “Volume” don’t need to be changed.

Step 8.) Tap “Details” and under “Init String” enter the following:

+crm=1;cso=33

And then tap “OK”, and then “OK” again.

Step 9.) Now you should be back in the Preferences Menu, so tap the “Network” option.

Step 10.) Tap “New” and under “Service” name the connection, I suggest “Dial Up” or something like it.

Step 11.) Under “User Name” enter “mobile@jamamobile”

Step 12.) The “Password” is “telecom” – yes all in lower case.

Step 13.) Tap “Connection” and select your “Nokia Data Connection” that you just set up previously.

Step 14.) The “Phone” number is #777

Step 15.) Tap “Details” and change “Idle Timeout” to never then tap “OK”

Step 16.) Hit “Connect” and everything going well you should connect to Mobile Jetstream via the phone.

Step 17.) Tap “Done” and then go test out the connection through the web browser on the handheld.

Once you’ve finished browsing, just exit the web browser and tap that little “B” for Bluetooth symbol at the bottom of the screen and then tap “Disconnect” to disconnect.
This connection will be default to connect for both the web and email.

A handy tip is to set up auto Bluetooth connect on your phone – for Nokia 6255 go:
Menu, Connectivity, Bluetooth, Paired devices. Select the device name and then hit “Options” and select yes under the “Auto-conn. Without confirmation”

Also to note that on the Handheld if the screen turns off so does the connection, you can adjust the amount of time the screen stays on by going into “Prefs / Power / Auto off”

For SMS you need the specific driver - i know that palm source is looking at developing a specific 6255 driver, but i wouldn't have an idea of eta. BTW Pland i'm glad someone is receiving my setup instructions at Dealer level :-)

Palm one released a phone link update this week
they seem to do that once a year - so i woud guess no 6255 drivers anytime soon.
