Well, I will be switched over tonight.

I'm looking forward to having greater than 128kbit upload. Should affect the overall download speed as well. 128kb just gets pretty saturated when trying to download at anything higher than 4mbit. Well, when TCP is involved, anyway.

128k upstream != 4mb limited downstream. Common misconception held by almost everyone. The limit is actually just over 9mbit with most modern OSes but in some cases, for REASONS OTHER THAN THE 128KBIT UPLOAD, users will observer approx 4-4.5mbit downloads.

Oh I'm sure there are other reasons, but having a 128kbit cap doesn't help :P Esepcially when you have other people in the house downloading as well, and you're trying to remotely connect into your PC

Guys Go-Large never worked correctly, I was one of the employees that warned them about this before they panicked and released it to the market, shaping in Go Large happens all the time not just in peak. If your on it I suggest you want to be glad to get off it

Why would they panic though, no one else is offering unlimited plans.. and only Slingshot and Xnet offer free off peak and performance is widely known to be horrible on those ISP's.

You realise you would be locked into Telecom Broadband for 12 months, not BigTime specificly. You can change plans (with some limitations, best to ask the rep you deal with about those), to say the standard 20GB plan.

wasent a competitive response, the government of the day was putting alot of presure on Telecom to release a plan like this in order to push along thier own agenda. No one had plans like this as most resell Telecoms plans anyway and competitors were lobbying the commission for these plans which meant Telecom had to build them.

Hmm.... Well on the new plan, and upload speed is impressive. Much better for logging into my computer remotely, but my downstream connection speed hasn't changed at all.
On average, with ADSL1, we'd connect at 7mbit to the exchange. Changed over, and its still only around 7mbit.
I've reset my router, made sure it was in ADSL2+ mode (Was in multimode, so I'd assume that would detect for whatever was needed).

Downstream line attutettetentntshun is 34db... According to a nice graph someone posted in another thread indicates that I should be getting around 12mbit to the exchange.

Any ideas?

What make and model of modem/router are you using? What sync speed do you get with nothing plugged into any socket apart from the modem (isolation test)?

Its a Linksys WAG200G. Just upgraded the firmware to 1.10.09 (Or something to that effect) today, but no change.

Not at home, so can't test that at the moment, but will try it later. You mean without any filters as well, right?

Ok, so i've got a bit of an issue with Go Large being discontinued...

So... last month... September 17, I was having problems with my modem, so called telecom who offered me wireless, but did say that I would have to sign up for a 24month contract with them.

I thought this a fair exchange, since i've been on the Go large plan since late 2006.

I did clearly say "I'm happy to do that as long as I can keep my Go Large plan?", and was told yes absolutely.

Then as with everyone else... two weeks later I received a letter in the mail informing me that Go Large will be cancelled on October 30 e.t.c.

So I got stuck with a 24 month contract and soon will have no Go large plan. I did call telecom about this, and they won't let me out of the contract, as apparently they didn't find out until September 30 that Go Large would be cancelled either.

I think it a load of crap!!!
Where's the sense of fairness? I was only two weeks shy of finding out, and they won't release me. Yes I realise that they do have the right to change and cancel plans whenever they choose, but to hold me to an agreement, in this way, is unfair.
